Job description

Greenvilleโ€™s United Effort to Functionally End Homelessness

Greenville Together: A Home for All is a coordinated, community-wide initiativeโ€”backed by United Way of Greenville Countyโ€”committed to functionally ending unsheltered homelessness in Greenville. Our goal is to prevent homelessness whenever possible, and when it does occur, ensure it is rare, brief, and non-recurring through a comprehensive, systems-level response.

Position Summary

Greenville Together seeks a highly organized, execution-oriented, and people-centered leader to serve as Operations Manager. This role leads the day-to-day operations across all Greenville Together initiatives, ensuring strategy is translated into action and work moves forward efficiently, consistently, and in alignment with shared system goals.

The Operations Manager serves as the operational backbone of Greenville Togetherโ€”overseeing implementation, coordinating partners, managing logistics and follow-through, and supporting community engagement efforts. This position requires strong project management skills, attention to detail, comfort with logistics and coordination, and the ability to keep complex, multi-partner efforts moving.

Reports to: Director of Greenville Together: A Home for All
Areas of Responsibility

  • Lead day-to-day operations for Greenville Together, including coordinating activities across initiatives, tracking progress, identifying barriers, and ensuring accountability toward shared goals.

  • Manage project management functions, including developing implementation plans, timelines, tracking tools, and documentation to support effective execution.

  • Coordinate and manage meeting logistics, including scheduling, calendar management, room setup, materials, agendas, note-taking, and follow-up to ensure decisions and action items are captured and advanced.

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for service providers, community partners, volunteers, and key stakeholders, supporting clear communication and alignment.

  • Support volunteer recruitment, engagement, and retention efforts, including coordinating volunteers for meetings, events, street counts, and community engagement activities.

  • Support the planning and execution of community meetings, convenings, and events tied to Greenville Together initiatives.

  • Convene and support cross-sector stakeholders to align strategies, share information, and advance collaborative efforts.

  • Support the design and operationalization of new strategies, pilots, and frameworks to strengthen system coordination and outcomes for people experiencing homelessness.

  • Represent Greenville Together in community meetings, working groups, and partner settings as needed.

  • Ensure clear, timely, and consistent communication with stakeholders to support trust, shared ownership, and momentum.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience, with 5+ years of experience in operations management, program management, nonprofit operations, community development, or related work.

  • Demonstrated success managing complex initiatives, coordinating multiple stakeholders, and keeping work on track through strong execution.

  • Experience working within cross-sector or systems-level collaborations is strongly preferred.

  • Strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to manage both details and big-picture priorities.

  • Comfort with logistics, coordination, and follow-through in fast-paced, community-facing environments.

  • Lived experience of homelessness or direct service experience with unsheltered populations is strongly valued.

United Way of Greenville County offers competitive compensation based on prior experience and qualifications as well as comprehensive benefits in order to best support our people. Benefits we offer include health, dental and vision insurance where United Way of Greenville County pays generously towards the cost of these benefits for employees and their families.
