Job description

Precision Custom Components (PCC) is seeking a talented 2ndshift Material Handling Supervisor to join our team. This is an on-site position reporting to our manufacturing facility in York, PA.

The Material Handling Supervisor oversees all 2nd shift (3:30pm-11:55pm) material handling and rigging operations, ensuring the safe, timely, and accurate movement of raw materials, in-process product, tooling, and finished goods throughout the facility. This role leads and develops a team of hourly union material handlers/riggers, planning and assigning daily work while monitoring staffing needs to meet production schedules and customer commitments.

At PCC, youโ€™ll be part of a skilled team that delivers high-quality, made-to-spec components where precision, reliability, and customer focus matter. Whether youโ€™re driving results in the office or making them happen on the shop floor, youโ€™ll collaborate across departments to solve problems, support efficient operations, and help ensure every component is completed safely, accurately, and with precision!

Essential Duties of the Material Handling Supervisor:

  • Supervise and coordinate 2nd shift material handling and rigging operations to ensure the safe, timely, and accurate movement of raw materials, in-process product, tooling, and finished goods throughout the facility.
  • Lead, train, and develop hourly union material handlers/riggers to meet production, quality, safety, and delivery requirements.
  • Plan and assign daily work, monitor staffing needs, and adjust priorities to support production schedules and customer commitments.
  • Ensure all material handling activities are performed in compliance with safety standards, company policies, work instructions, and contractual/customer requirements.
  • Coordinate with production, quality, shipping, receiving, and other departments to maintain efficient material flow and minimize downtime or delays.
  • Monitor and verify inventory transactions, material movements, and job status updates within the ERP system to maintain inventory accuracy and traceability.
  • Support loading, unloading, staging, storage, and shipment preparation of products and tooling in accordance with company and customer specifications.
  • Oversee the proper use and basic readiness of material handling equipment and tools; report maintenance, repair, or safety concerns promptly.
  • Train employees on procedures, equipment use, safe rigging practices, and standard work expectations; reinforce accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Investigate and resolve workflow, personnel, and operational issues in a timely manner, escalating concerns when appropriate.
  • Promote a positive labor-management environment and maintain effective working relationships in a union-represented setting.
  • Drive continuous improvement in safety, productivity, quality, housekeeping, and overall material handling performance.

Education/Qualifications:

  • High school diploma, GED, or trade school diploma required; completion of an apprenticeship program or related post-secondary technical education preferred.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a setting similar to PCC.
  • Demonstrated supervisory or leadership experience leading associates in a material handling, rigging, or manufacturing support environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to read blueprints and interpret GD&T to support accurate material movement, tooling coordination, and production requirements.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and communicate clearly with employees at all levels.
  • Proven ability to work independently, take initiative, and build productive supervisor-employee relationships in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to effectively supervise and lead associates in a union-represented environment while maintaining accountability, consistency, and respect.

PCC offers a comprehensive benefits package to include:

  • 401(k) matching
  • Medical insurance
  • Dental insurance
