Job description

AM General Material Handler

AM General is hiring Material Handlers. AM General Hourly employees are represented by the UAW and together the Company and the Union strive to create a working environment that supports and develops its workforce.

Requirements & Skills:

  • Must be able to work on a contract basis for the first 30 days. That time will be credited toward any benefits with a time worked requirement
  • Must be able to read and follow standardized work and job instructions
  • Must have basic computer skills
  • Previous manufacturing experience is preferred
  • Must be able to operate different types of powered industrial trucks
  • Must have a valid drivers license
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Maintain regular attendance and punctuality
  • Communicate effectively with other employees and management
  • May be required to learn multiple jobs
  • Shift start time 5:00 am

Primary Duties Include:

  • Inventory control and movement
  • May unload, load and receive material
  • May assemble kits, re-pack parts for delivery to the manufacturing plants
  • Deliver build material to the assembly line
  • Review build schedule and lineset to verify parts needed for production
  • Maintain inventory accuracy by counting and adjusting assigned material
  • Identify and communicate material shortages and hot parts to production supervisors and planners
  • Scan material into location
  • Manage dunnage and skids for efficiency
  • Perform all duties in a safe and efficient manner in compliance with safety rules
  • Maintain a clean working environment
