Material Handler

Location: Independence, OR
Shift: 1st Shift | Monday-Friday | 5:00 AM - 3:30 PM

Pay: $18.50/hr

Must be open to working in both indoor and outdoor environments
Must be willing and able to work 20+ hours of overtime during peak and busy seasons

Join Our Team as a Material Handler

We are seeking a dependable and hardworking Material Handler to join our production team in Independence, OR. This Material Handler position is responsible for supporting production operations by ensuring the continuous flow of organic materials through processing equipment, maintaining housekeeping standards, assisting with inventory activities, and supporting various plant operations.

The ideal Material Handler is safety-focused, enjoys working in a hands-on industrial environment, and takes pride in helping production processes run efficiently. As a Material Handler, you will play an important role in maintaining product flow, supporting equipment operations, performing physical labor, and ensuring a clean and safe work environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain material flow through shakers by breaking up material to prevent bridging and blockages.
  • Monitor material levels and communicate with heavy equipment operators when shaker refills are needed.
  • Maintain finishing screens by scraping and cleaning them to ensure continuous product flow.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties, including sweeping, shoveling, scraping, cleaning work areas, and removing material buildup throughout the facility.
  • Prevent material accumulation beneath conveyors, catwalks, and walkways while following all safety procedures.
  • Perform manual lifting, moving, carrying, and handling of materials throughout the production facility.
  • Stack bags, restack pallets, and assist with product handling operations as needed.
  • Assist with inventory counts, material tracking, inventory organization, and stock replenishment activities.
  • Help maintain quality and production standards.
  • Notify maintenance personnel of any equipment issues or operational concerns.
  • Assist with small bag line operations when required.
  • Support plant cleanup activities and maintain organized work areas.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by plant leadership.

Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly
  • Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks including lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending, and shoveling
  • Ability to climb ladders and remain on your feet for extended periods
  • Ability to work in dusty environments and varying weather conditions
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
