What does a material control analyst do?

A Material Control Analyst is responsible for managing and optimizing the flow of materials within an organization. They monitor inventory levels, track shipments, coordinate with suppliers and production teams, and ensure that materials are available when needed to meet production schedules. Their work helps minimize shortages, reduce excess inventory, and improve supply chain efficiency. Material Control Analysts also analyze data and implement systems to streamline material management processes.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a material control analyst, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Material Control Analyst, you need a solid understanding of inventory management, supply chain logistics, and data analysis, often supported by a degree in business, supply chain, or a related field. Proficiency with ERP systems like SAP or Oracle, inventory tracking software, and advanced Excel skills are typically required.
