Job description

Description Airport Security Supervisor Examples of Duties Under direct supervision, provides day-to-day coordination of all security matters. Implements programs and policies as established in the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) approved airport security program in accordance with 49CFR 1500 and applicable security directives. Reviews electronic ID database and access control systems.

Programs, monitors, and enters data in security access control system. Conducts audits and prepares summary reports for review by management and regulatory agencies. Establishes contact with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies and pertinent security officials to establish partnership and for use in emergency response situations.

Conducts security-related briefings, training sessions, and prepares PowerPoint presentations for employees, management officials, tenants, and contractors. Coordinates with Department of Port Control employees and tenants in solving airport security-related issues. Provides supervision oversight and direction for assigned staff with required duties and responsibilities.

Develops and monitors employee work plans. Counsels, coaches, and instructs employees and prepares performance evaluations. Performs other job-related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications Two years of college in Business, Public Administration, Criminal Justice, or closely related field from a four year accredited college or university required. One year of full-time paid direct responsibility for a security program at a commercial airport, government facility, military base, or similar-sized facility involving the safety and security of large numbers of the general public or personnel required. (Substitution: One year of experience in a related field will substitute for each year of college lacking.) Valid State of Ohio Driver's License required

Must obtain an Airport Security Coordinator certification as required by the TSA within six months of the date of hire. Must be able to lift and carry 30 pounds. Computer literacy with MS Office Suite and Internet Explorer is preferred.

Must successfully complete a TSA fingerprint-based Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) and employment background check. Supplemental Information Additional Requirements: Must successfully complete a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) 10-year fingerprint-based Criminal History Records Check and employment background check and Security Threat Assessment. Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug test.

Must be proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint. Availability for on-call support and occasional after-hours work for critical system maintenance. Preferred Qualifications: In-depth knowledge of Federal Aviation Administration and TSA regulatory requirements as it pertains to safety and security operations and certification requirements.

Job Function & Duties: Function: Under general supervision, coordinates and oversees the activities of the airport security office. Is responsible for providing a safe and secure environment at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport by implementing programs and policies as established in conjunction with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) approved Airport Security Program (ASP), in accordance with 49CFR 1500 and applicable security directives

Ensures compliance of operations and procedures with the Airport Security Program mandates and security directives by responding to all violations and ensuring appropriate corrective measures are in place. Duties: Assists with planning, organizing, directing and managing the day-to-day operations and performance of Airport Security, regulatory compliance, training development and administration, and ID Badging. Assists in the development of section budget and monitors expenditures.

Supervises the performance of assigned staff develops and monitors employee goals, counsels and coaches, instructs and evaluates employees, initiates and enforces disciplinary actions, and informs leadership of performance or operational issues as they arise. Assists in the hiring, development of team and progressive discipline, when appropriate. Conducts inspections, compliance testing, evaluations and audits of operations and programs to ensure conformance with required security regulations.

Coordinates daily operations with the security guard services to ensure compliance with standard operating procedures/Post Orders, the airport security program, applicable security directives and initiatives by TSA. Resolves daily issues and address new initiatives. Facilitates requests for contract guard services for all departments.

Investigates security requirement violations, determines appropriate enforcement actions and communicates to badge holders and company managers outlining required actions. Develops and implements security compliance programs and outreach to tenants to ensure they possess a working knowledge of security-related compliance requirements. Develops and reports statistical information regarding annual security violations to managers and stakeholders.

Recommend new programs to mitigate violation trends. Conducts audits and prepares summary reports for review by management and regulatory agencies. Collaborates with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies and pertinent security officials on security policies, procedures, and violation or emergency response situations.

Conducts security-related briefings and training sessions for Airport leadership, employees, tenants, and contractors. Follows established federal mandates to review, adjudicate, and approve Airport badge applicant's Criminal History Records Checks (CHRC) and Security Threat Assessments (STA). Administers compliance programs, audits and initiatives to enforce applicable regulations, directives and mandates.

Conducts investigations to determine dispositions of criminal charges that appear on criminal history checks and adjudicates identity and immigration documents. Conducts daily and monthly STA data submissions. Creates, records, and maintains all-inclusive records for this process.

Communicates changes or impacts to background check processes to affected stakeholders. Performs frontline airport pass/identification (ID) badging functions such as security badges and/or airside vehicle operators permits. Conducts complete life cycle processing of airport badging from new requests and renewals to departures.

Promotes and ensures compliance with occupational health and safety management policies, procedures, and programs to minimize employee accidents and to promote a safe work environment. Prepare accident and injury reports as necessary. Performs other related duties as required.
