This opportunity resides with All-Domain Operations (ADO), a business group within HII’s Mission Technologies division. All-Domain Operations comprises multi-domain operations, platforms and logistics, and intelligence operations.

HII designs, develops, integrates, and manages the sensors, systems, and other assets necessary to support integrated ISR operations and accelerated decision-making. With data fusion and mission management capabilities for the Department of Defense, the combatant commands and the intelligence community, HII advances the mission around the globe.

Information Assurance (IA) Engineer provides cybersecurity and accreditation support to U.S. Special Operations Command (SOCOM) by establishing and maintaining security authorizations for information systems operating in classified environments. This position develops and maintains System Security Plans (SSPs), ensures compliance with DoD cybersecurity policies, and supports the secure design, implementation, and assessment of SOCOM‑aligned information systems. The IA Engineer applies DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes, conducts vulnerability assessments, and supports the development, integration, and sustainment of secure network and system architectures in accordance with mission requirements.

This requisition supports hiring at multiple experience levels. Final placement will be determined based on the selected applicant’s qualifications, experience, and skill sets.

What you will do
  • Establish and maintain system accreditation for classified and unclassified information systems in accordance with DoD and SOCOM cybersecurity requirements.
  • Develop, update, and maintain System Security Plans (SSPs), security operating procedures, and associated documentation.
  • Provide technical and programmatic IA support for network, system, and information security operations.
  • Build, maintain, and secure DevSecOps pipelines and automation to support continuous integration and secure system deployment.
  • Design, develop, and implement cybersecurity requirements and security controls for new and existing systems.
  • Prepare Security Test and Evaluation (ST&E) plans; support Certification and Accreditation (C&A) and RMF-based assessment activities.
  • Analyze cybersecurity policies, procedures, and system configurations against DoD directives and federal regulations; provide recommendations to address compliance gaps.
  • Develop, maintain, and test SSPs, contingency plans, and incident response documentation in accordance with DoD standards.
  • Develop, test, integrate, and maintain cybersecurity tools, monitoring capabilities, and defensive technologies.
  • Conduct cybersecurity program audits and develop recommendations to reduce identified risks and strengthen system security posture.
  • Evaluate, refine, and enhance cybersecurity policies, requirements, and tools to improve system resilience.
  • Provide cyber end‑user support and assistance with infrastructure, information security policy, and RMF-based certification activities to obtain and maintain Authority to Operate (ATO).
  • Perform vulnerability assessments and develop mitigation strategies to reduce system risk and enhance compliance with DoD and SOCOM standards.

What we are looking for

Level 2: 2 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 0 years experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 years relevant experience.

Level 3: 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.

Level 4: 9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 years relevant experience.

  • Experience providing cybersecurity, information assurance, or RMF support to SOCOM, DoD agencies, or other federal defense programs.
  • Knowledge of DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF), system accreditation processes, and cybersecurity compliance requirements.
  • Experience developing SSPs, security procedures, and system documentation in accordance with DoD guidelines.
  • Proficiency in conducting vulnerability assessments, analyzing threats, and developing risk mitigation strategies.
  • Hands‑on experience with security tools, system hardening, and secure configuration management.
  • Ability to interpret and apply DoD cybersecurity policies, directives, and federal regulations to system architecture and design.
  • Experience preparing, executing, and documenting Security Test and Evaluation (ST&E) activities.
  • Ability to support DevSecOps environments and integrate security controls into automated pipelines.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with engineering teams, government stakeholders, and end users.
  • Ability to evaluate system designs, provide security recommendations, and support accreditation decisions.
  • Clearance: Must possess and maintain a Top Secret clearance.
  • Experience supporting special operations mission systems, tactical networks, or classified system environments.
  • Familiarity with DoD cybersecurity standards, such as NIST SP 800‑53, CNSSI policies, and DoD Cloud or ATO processes.
  • Experience with SIEM tools, endpoint security technologies, or automated security testing solutions.
  • Certifications such as Security+, CASP+, CISSP, CISM, CEH, or other DoD 8570 IAM/IASAE‑aligned credentials.
  • Experience supporting cybersecurity testing, fielding, or integration activities for DoD programs.
  • Knowledge of system engineering principles, secure architecture development, or network security engineering.
Physical Requirements

May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
