Job description

Description This part-time Library Clerk I position, primarily providing patron assistance, circulation services is based at the Holy Cross Branch. This position is approximately 22 hours per week, requiring regular evening and alternating weekend shifts. Job Duties Provide general library services at circulation desks using library management system and knowledge of the collection, including but not limited to: material check in and check out shelving materials and maintaining appropriate organization, presentation, and distribution of collection at assigned branch patron registration placing holds and purchase requests advising patrons in locating materials Perform basic reference and readers' advisory service.

Assist patrons with computer, photocopier, and fax. Collect fines and fees. Answer incoming calls, route to appropriate staff.

Rotate collection materials through the branches to meet patron demand. Deliver library materials to the branches. Process new library materials.

Purchase supplies. Light cleaning (e.g. dusting, disc cleaning)

Perform related tasks as required. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent and experience in a library or similar setting. Bachelor's degree and library experience preferred.

Must be authorized to work in the United States. Dubuque County does not sponsor work visas or provide immigration sponsorship. Supplemental Information General Requirements: Ability to operate computer, use Internet and basic software such as Windows, Microsoft Office, etc.

Ability to learn assigned clerical tasks and operation of library management system, and to adhere to library policies and procedures. Some knowledge of library principles, methods, and practices. General knowledge of reader interests and of books and authors.

Some knowledge of theory and objectives of a public library system. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with library employees and patrons. Possession of a valid driver's license and the ability to travel to multiple locations as needed.

Access to a personal vehicle may sometimes be necessary. Ability to work evenings and weekends. Primarily Holy Cross branch Physical Requirements: The following are required with or without reasonable accommodation: Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing, which permits the employee to communicate effectively.

Sufficient vision, which permits the employee to prepare and read a wide variety of materials. Sufficient manual dexterity, which permits the employee to operate a computer keyboard and other equipment. Sufficient personal mobility, which permits the employee to complete various activities such as lifting up to 35 lbs., bending, kneeling, carrying, walking
