We are looking for a highly skilled Mid level full-stack engineer to join the DAAS team located in Waltham Massachusetts. The ideal candidate is an experienced software engineer having knowledge of complex system design with excellent problem solving skills. DAAS is a nascent initiative and you’ll have the opportunity to affect its direction. You’ll take the lead in bringing in new ideas, testing and validating them quickly and independently, and incorporating them while socializing them with the team.

What You'll do:

  • Design, develop, and maintain backend systems using Java and Node.js frameworks like NestJS.
  • Build scalable systems using event streaming technologies like Kafka
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand and implement new features and functionalities for the platform.
  • Refactor and improve existing codebases to enhance performance, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Develop and implement RESTful APIs adhering to best practices and design patterns.
  • Work with cutting-edge cloud technologies.
  • Solving interesting and challenging problems alongside a great team of engineers.
  • Developing new skills as you push your knowledge, and our technology, to new levels.

What you bring:

  • Masters in Computer Science and 2+ years of experience as a Backend Software Engineer with a focus on Java and Node.js or 4+ years of experience and Bachelors in Computer Science.
  • Experience with SQL Server and/or MongoDB - writing efficient queries, designing schemas, and ensuring data security.
  • Familiarity with designing, building, and maintaining RESTful web APIs.
  • Familiarity with software development best practices, including SOLID principles, design patterns, and unit testing.
  • Experience with logging, monitoring, and alerting tools.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to debug complex issues.
  • Passion for developing software and continuous improvement.
  • Strong desire to seek pragmatic, innovative solutions to complex business and technical problems.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with internal teams including customer support, product, and engineering.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with Kafka or other messaging systems for real-time data processing
  • Demonstrable contributions to open-source projects.
  • Experience with cloud technologies, specifically AWS and GCP, including deploying, monitoring, and scaling applications.
  • Virtualization and orchestration of applications (Docker/Kubernetes/ECS).
  • Experience building microservices architectures.
