Job description

Kenyon College invites applications for a tenure-track position in the Department of Biology starting in July 2027. We seek a broadly trained molecular biologist with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching and research. We welcome applicants working in any area of molecular biology, including but not limited to gene expression and regulation, genomics, structural biology, protein structure and function, and/or computational molecular biology.

The successful candidate will join a collaborative department dedicated to outstanding teaching, close faculty-student mentoring, and active undergraduate research. The successful candidate will also contribute to Kenyon's interdisciplinary Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (BMB) program. We seek applicants who demonstrate a commitment to inclusive teaching practices, strong academic support for students, and effective mentoring for a diverse student population. Teaching expectations are 5 courses per year, including introductory biology, Molecular Biology, its associated laboratory course, and upper level courses in the candidateโ€™s area of expertise. Opportunities exist for interdisciplinary teaching and scholarship within and beyond the natural sciences. The successful candidate is expected to establish an active research program that engages undergraduate collaborators, leads to publications, and has the potential to attract extramural funding. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. degree; post-doctoral experience is preferred. We encourage applications from all groups historically underrepresented in the sciences.
