Job Title: Senior Chemist

Department or Division: Science

Reports To: Director of Laboratory Operations

JOB TASKS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As a member of the Science team at CS Medical, the Senior Chemist position is responsible for developing and overseeing the chemistry aspects of projects and assays to support the development of current and future medical devices and products. Reporting to the Director of Laboratory Operations, the Senior Chemist works with laboratory staff and adheres to schedules to ensure project completion. Your first and foremost goal will always be the safety of yourself and other CS Medical personnel in the performance of your duties.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Research and development to help support and develop products and devices
  • Lead product development projects
  • Develop new scientific methods and assays
  • Improve and customize current products, formulations and analytical methods and processes
  • Create and write validations, test protocols, procedures, reports, and proposals
  • Review and evaluate analysis data concerning the needs, requirements, and operation for (test) project design and support
  • Review and evaluate scientific methods, procedures, data, and articles/journals
  • Determine the relationships of chemical and physical properties, composition, structures and reactions of compounds using chromatography, spectrophotometry and spectroscopy techniques
  • Performs applied scientific analysis and activities relative to the research, design and development of lab and field projects
  • Operation of Liquid Chromatography instrumentation (HPLC)
  • Stay current and comply with various regulatory agencies
  • Maintain equipment, supplies, and chemicals
  • Ensure health and safety within the laboratory

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • B.S. or B.A. in Chemistry, Biochemistry or related discipline
  • Minimum of five years of experience in a chemistry or related laboratory
  • Minimum of five years with HPLC work and development of assays
  • Minimum of five years of product development
  • Ability to lead projects
  • Experience working in a laboratory setting, analytical skills, sample extraction and analysis, titrations, experience with bioanalytical methods, HPLC, spectrophotometry
  • Ability to interpret analysis from outside sources (example: HPLC, GC, validations, etc.)
  • PC skills and ability to learn new software, systems, and programs
  • Ability to effectively communicate and interact with technical staff at all levels in a team-based environment
  • Detail and quality oriented
  • Ability to work independently
  • Willingness to travel in the US occasionally
  • Working knowledge of Quality Assurance and Good Laboratory Practices
