Role Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Program Manager/Team Leader, the Business Analyst I collect, and analyses data related to business problems and processes, and assembles functional/non-functional requirements for software systems and improvement initiatives. The incumbent’s primary responsibility is to elicit, analyze, validate, specify, verify, and communicate the real needs of the project stakeholders, including members and end-users, and serves as the conduit for the processes and requirements that flow between the member community and the business units responsible for the systems.  For enterprise projects, this position will work closely with the assigned Project Manager to ensure requirements are captured before execution and any changes thereafter are managed through the project's Change Management Plan. This position has beginning-to-intermediate job knowledge and has demonstrated the ability to handle moderate responsibilities relevant to the Business Analyst I role.

What You Will Be Doing:

  1. Elicit, capture, track, and document business processes and requirements for a given system using best practices by working with the project sponsor and/or product business owner.
  2. Elicit processes and requirements from the business
  3. Present processes and requirements to business owners, project teams, and management and obtain agreement from all decision makers on the strategic and tactical direction of the initiative
  4. Perform decomposition of high-level business and user requirements into development and test requirements in collaboration with more-senior BAs or Project Managers
  5. Facilitate systems scoping and requirements sessions, independently, with stakeholders 
  6. Communicate with the Project Manager (on Enterprise Projects) on scope/requirement changes consistent with the Change Management Plan for the project
  7. Manage requirements traceability information and tracking requirements status throughout the project
  8. Participate in requirements analysis and verification to ensure that requirement statements are complete, consistent, concise, comprehensible, traceable, feasible, unambiguous, and verifiable, and that they conform to standards
  9. Co-facilitate requirements prioritization with Project Managers and/or more-senior Business Analysts
  10. Participate in peer reviews and inspections of Business Requirements Documents and DevOps Boards
  11. Participate in the Analysis and validation of project / maintenance release deliverables against project requirements and vision
  12. Participate in documentation of testing requirements, analyze and prepare testing requirements and documentation needs within the format designated for the project
  13. Process Improvement
  14. Develop process improvement procedures to improve operational efficiency
  15. Analyze current process standards and metrics in order to provide solutions for improvements
  16. Perform data gathering, root cause analysis and performance trending in order to develop appropriate process control changes
  17. Coordinate with Subject Matter Experts to develop process improvement reports for setting forth progress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations and conclusions
  18. Prioritize and implement process change requirements based on the critical project needs
  19. Determine fiscal requirements and personnel resources required for process re-engineering of process change
  20. Prepare and manage budgetary requirements for process re-engineering
  21. Inform respective teams on process improvement and re-engineering strategies
  22. Work with the team to recommend appropriate changes in process/approach
  23. Prepare communication plans regarding process re-engineering for multiple stakeholders
  24. Manage projects involving engineering, research, maintenance, and operations
  25. Train and guide resources as needed
  26. Update and maintain documentation on process improvements and process performance
  27. Assist with researching and recommending improvements to business processes, organization, and rules that can increase the advantages gained from technical and non-technical solutions
  28. Document complex multi-system workflows and business processes and pro-actively identify improvements and opportunities
  29. Analyze current process standards and metrics in order to provide solutions for improvements
  30. Perform data gathering, root cause analysis and performance trending in order to develop appropriate process control changes
  31. Work with the team to recommend appropriate changes in process/approach
  32. Build and grow a network of SMEs across the organization
  33. Participates in teams established/defined by the PMO/more experienced BAs
  34. Demonstrate empathy by understanding the needs of the end user and seeking out problems they may encounter
  35. Contribute to the improvement of the Business Analysis process on a continuous basis

What You Will Need:

  1. One (1) to four (4) years of Business/Technical Analysis or Technical Project experience
  2. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field (or four (4) years of equivalent experience)
  3. Required Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365: Word, Excel, Teams, OneNote, Excel, PowerPoint
  4. Familiarity with process flow and engineering diagraming tools, such as Microsoft Visio, Lucidchart, etc.
  5. Familiarity with Tableau, PowerBI, or comparable analytical/reporting tools
  6. Capable of completing Certification of Capability in Business Analysis (CCBA) within two years of hire (may substitute experience)
  7. Existing Certification of Capability in Business Analysis (CCBA) or equivalent/higher certification preferred
