Job Description:
Sr Director, Business Development is responsible for the co-development and execution of enterprise business strategies that drive sustainable growth across Vitalant's mobile and fixed blood collection operations. This executive-level role leads the analysis, evaluation, and development of new growth opportunities across emerging territories and targeted sectors, including education, business, government, faith-based, civic, and community organizations.
This position plays a critical role in shaping Vitalant's long-term growth strategy by aligning market opportunity, financial impact, operational feasibility, and mission advancement.
Salary is commensurate with experience and geographical location.
Salary Range: $112,000-$167,000/Year
What You'll Do
Enterprise Strategy & Growth
  • Co-develop business strategies that support mobile and fixed collection growth at national and regional levels
  • Identify, evaluate, and prioritize organic growth opportunities with the greatest mission-aligned financial return
  • Define and execute growth strategies for new and expanding collection operations
  • Lead financial evaluations, ROI modeling, and due diligence for investment, expansion, and growth programs
  • Scope the current mobile and fixed operations value chain to determine optimal allocation of resources

Market Intelligence & Evaluation
  • Lead identification and analysis of internal and external market intelligence sources
  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations and deep dives for new markets, sector-based growth, and operational expansion
  • Develop dashboards, baselines, and success metrics to track ROI, adoption, and value realization
  • Provide executive-level plans, reports, scoring, and recommendations for growth initiatives and national partnerships

Business Development & Partnerships
  • Design, develop, and deploy market-based sales strategies aligned to defined growth milestones
  • Lead opportunities through milestone evaluation processes from concept to execution and delivery
  • Facilitate internal and external meetings to assess partnerships, adoption readiness, and strategic fit
  • Establish and maintain executive-level relationships with key partners and decision-makers

Leadership & Capability Development
  • Collaborate with training and operational leaders to build internal capability supporting growth initiatives
  • Lead internal training on business development processes, due diligence methodology, growth evaluation, and positioning
  • Participate in annual operating planning and goal-setting for mobile and fixed operations

What You Bring
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field required
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) preferred

Experience
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in business development, program management, and healthcare.
  • Proven experience in:
    • Project facilitation and execution
    • ROI and growth evaluations
    • Due diligence and development of innovative growth solutions
    • Executive-level presentations and stakeholder engagement
  • 5+ years of supervisory or people-leadership experience
  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of business development, due diligence, and deal structuring required.
  • Knowledge of donor services or healthcare services models preferred
