Job description

Responsibilities
Peraton is seeking to hire an experienced Cybersecurity Engineer for its Federal Strategic Cyber group.
Location: Chandler, AZ or Washington DC.
Roles and Responsibilities:
  • The Cybersecurity Engineer supports a 24x7 Security Operations Center (SOC) by engineering, integrating, and sustaining security architectures and tools that enable continuous monitoring, detection, and response.
  • This role provides senior technical expertise to ensure SOC capabilities remain resilient, scalable, and aligned with modern threat environments.

You Will:
  • Engineer and sustain security capabilities supporting 24x7 SOC monitoring, detection, and response.
  • Design and implement Zero Trust controls across enterprise, cloud, mobile, and hybrid environments.
  • Integrate and optimize SIEM, SOAR, and NDR platforms to improve detection and response effectiveness.
  • Support secure cloud, DevSecOps, and CI/CD architectures and automation.
  • Engineer cryptographic and identity solutions, including PKI and post-quantum cryptography (PQC).
  • Support security engineering for AI/GenAI-enabled systems.
  • Provide Tier III engineering support and technical leadership during complex SOC incidents.
  • Mentor engineers and support continuous SOC capability improvement.

Qualifications
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or Cybersecurity and 12 years of relevant experience; Masters degree and 10 years. An additional 4 years of experience will be considered in lieu of the degree.
  • Minimum of 10 years of cybersecurity engineering and/or technical program management experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of technical leadership experience.
  • One or more certifications:
    • CISSP, CCSP, CCNA, CIS-ISSAP, CISSP-ISSEP, GIAC, SSCP, or Security+
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Zero Trust, Cloud, DevSecOps, SIEM, SOAR, NDR, PKI/PQC, AI/GenAI, and Mobile Security
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Active Secret security clearance required.

Preferred:
  • 10-12+ years of cybersecurity engineering and/or technical program management experience.

Target Salary Range
$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
