Job description

Karman Space & Defense is a leader in the rapid design, development, and production of critical, next-generation system solutions that align with the U.S. Department of War and its allies’ core mission priorities, and meet the accelerating demand for access to space. Building on nearly 50 years of success, we deliver Payload & Protection Systems, Aero/Hydrodynamic Interstage Systems, and Propulsion & Launch Systems to more than 80 prime contractors supporting over 130 space and defense programs.

This role is part of our Hypersonics and Strategic Missile Defense business, which designs, develops, and delivers highly dependable missile systems for hypersonic and strategic missile defense missions. We provide integrated, mission-ready hardware that brings together multiple technologies into unified systems engineered to perform in demanding operational environments. Our tip-to-tail capabilities include payload protection and deployment systems, propulsion systems, aerodynamic interstage systems, separation systems, missile subsystems, shroud systems, launch systems, and payload integration solutions.

The Master Scheduler develops, maintains, and optimizes master production schedules by balancing capacity, resources, inventory, and demand across assigned business units. This role serves as a key liaison between production, engineering, supply chain, business development, and program management, ensuring schedule accuracy and alignment with company objectives. The scheduler helps identify risks, drive solutions, and support continuous improvement in planning and capacity utilization.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and manages daily team schedules to ensure optimal resource allocation and adherence to deadlines.
  • Develops, publishes, and maintains the master production schedule, balancing inventory levels, resource availability, and capacity planning needs.
  • Creates and maintains a rolling three‑month production plan using sales forecasts, historical trends, product availability, and new business opportunities.
  • Analyzes and identifies risks tied to schedule options, including manufacturing lead times.
  • Integrates sales orders with the master schedule and coordinates raw material, equipment, and staffing requirements to meet delivery targets.
  • Maintains the master distribution schedule for the assigned facility.
  • Monitors actual output versus the master production plan, identifies gaps, and drives corrective actions.
  • Coordinates activities between planners and production departments.
  • Leads cross‑functional forecasting and planning efforts across teams such as Sales, Marketing, Business Development, and Finance.
  • Supports Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (SIOP) meetings, reviewing schedule performance, inventory strategy, supply plans, and resource impacts; updates production plans as needed.
  • Reports key scheduling and performance metrics in a timely manner.
  • Develops strategies with operations for improving capacity and equipment utilization.
  • Documents key data for analysis, including downtime, peak production, inventory levels, and scheduling accuracy.
  • Monitors material flow, identifies bottlenecks, troubleshoots root causes, and supports corrective actions.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Six or more years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Three or more years of experience with Epicor enterprise resource planning (ERP) software.

A current U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain one.
