Position Summary
The Senior Project Manager (SPM) is responsible for the leadership and successful delivery of large, complex, and/or multiple construction projects. This role provides senior-level oversight across all phases of the project lifecycle, from preconstruction through closeout, while ensuring safety, quality, schedule, cost, and contractual objectives are achieved. The Senior Project Manager leads project teams, manages client relationships, oversees commercial performance, and ensures a strong project environment focused on collaboration, accountability, and predictable outcomes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage large, complex, and/or multiple construction projects simultaneously.
  • Provide leadership during preconstruction, including constructability reviews and planning.
  • Lead development of the Project Execution Plan (PEP) and participate in peer reviews.
  • Manage permitting, builder's risk coordination, and Notice to Proceed processes.
  • Oversee procurement, cost control, and change management activities.
  • Develop subcontract bid packages and oversee subcontractor selection and contracting.
  • Prepare the master project schedule and oversee ongoing updates and progress tracking.
  • Prepare and deliver project reporting and formal project status reports to stakeholders.
  • Prepare and manage owner pay applications.
  • Review and approve subcontractor and supplier payment applications.
  • Plan, lead, and conduct project meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Perform and oversee QA/QC inspections and review test data and documentation.
  • Coordinate site logistics planning and execution.
  • Lead Incident-Free Environment (IFE) initiatives and communicate, enforce, and maintain SHMP compliance.
  • Support claims resolution in coordination with Project Executives and leadership.
  • Manage owner contracts in partnership with Project Executives.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage the development and performance of project staff.
  • Ensure a strong project environment focused on client relationships, collaboration, proactiveness, commercial advantage, and robust project controls and analytics.
  • Travel to job site as needed, especially for the kick-off meeting as well as the closing meeting, which will require up to 50% travel.
  • Ensures a project is completed safely, accurately, meets industry and company standards and is profitable for the company and their clients.

Experience
  • Minimum 8-12 years of progressive experience in construction or related industries.
  • Proven experience managing large, complex, or multi-project programs.
  • Prior experience leading project teams and mentoring Project Managers and Engineers preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, and project management software such as Procore, ACC, Epicor, etc.
  • The ability to create, update, and own a scope-delineated project schedule with preferable working knowledge of how to utilize Microsoft Projects or other similar project scheduling software.
  • An understanding of the correlation between budget and progress within the context of a data center white space construction project.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
  • Advanced knowledge of construction means, methods, contracts, and project delivery systems.
  • Strong financial acumen including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and cash flow management.
  • Proven leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Ability to manage risk, claims, and complex stakeholder relationships.
  • Proficiency in project management software and scheduling tools.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and ethical business practices.

Education/Certifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Construction or Data Center build outs (Infrastructure, Low Voltage, or Electrical).
  • PMP certification, or equivalent, is a preferred.
  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED

Physical Demands and Work Environment
Employees must be able to hear, speak, and communicate effectively. Work occurs in data center environments with potential exposure to electrical hazards, noise, and varying temperatures. Flexible hours, including nights and weekends, may be required.
Physical requirements include bending, stooping, squatting, crawling, climbing, kneeling, balancing, pushing, pulling, and reaching overhead. Must lift at least 50 lbs, raise arms above shoulder level, and perform overhead work for extended periods. The ability to climb and carry ladders (up to 12 ft), navigate stairways, and work at heights up to 90 ft using ladders, scaffolds, or lifts is essential.
Employees must access restricted areas (e.g., switchgear rooms, vaults, tunnels, crawl spaces) and wear full PPE. Good vision and hearing (normal or corrected) and accurate color identification are required. Some projects may lack food facilities, so bringing meals and snacks is necessary.
