We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Orthotist to join our Occupational Health and Employee Wellness team. The Orthotist will provide specialized orthotic care to employees requiring support for musculoskeletal conditions, injuries, physical disabilities, or rehabilitation needs.
Job Summary
The Orthotist will be responsible for evaluating patients, developing individualized treatment plans, and designing, fitting, and adjusting orthotic devices to improve mobility, stability, function, and quality of life. The successful candidate will work closely with physicians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, occupational health professionals, and other healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive patient care.
The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical assessment skills, knowledge of biomechanics and human anatomy, technical expertise in orthotic devices, and excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to evaluate physical conditions, mobility limitations, musculoskeletal disorders, injuries, and functional needs.
• Design, recommend, fit, and adjust custom and prefabricated orthotic devices based on individual patient requirements.
• Take accurate measurements, impressions, molds, and digital scans for the fabrication of orthotic devices.
• Develop individualized orthotic treatment plans in consultation with physicians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
• Fit and provide devices such as ankle-foot orthoses (AFOs), knee-ankle-foot orthoses (KAFOs), spinal orthoses, knee braces, upper-extremity orthoses, and other supportive devices.
• Evaluate the fit, comfort, alignment, and functionality of orthotic devices.
• Perform follow-up assessments and make necessary modifications, adjustments, or repairs to orthotic devices.
• Educate patients and their families on the proper use, care, maintenance, and safety of prescribed orthotic devices.
• Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans based on clinical outcomes and functional improvements.
• Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, evaluations, treatment plans, fitting information, and follow-up documentation.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare and rehabilitation teams to support optimal patient outcomes.
• Assist occupational health teams in developing return-to-work plans and appropriate workplace accommodations for employees recovering from injuries.
• Provide recommendations to promote safe mobility and reduce the risk of further injury in agricultural and production work environments.
• Follow applicable healthcare regulations, infection-control procedures, safety standards, and professional ethical guidelines.
• Stay current with advances in orthotic technology, materials, fabrication methods, biomechanics, and rehabilitation practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Orthotics and Prosthetics or a related field from an accredited institution.
• Certification as an Orthotist through the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics & Pedorthics (ABC) or equivalent recognized certification.
• Current state licensure, where required.
• Minimum of 2-3 years of professional experience as an Orthotist or in a related orthotic rehabilitation setting.
• Strong knowledge of orthotic assessment, design, fabrication, fitting, and modification.
• Knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, gait analysis, and rehabilitation principles.
• Experience with upper-extremity, lower-extremity, and spinal orthotic devices.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient education skills.
• Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
• Proficiency in maintaining accurate clinical records and documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in occupational health, rehabilitation, industrial healthcare, or employee wellness settings.
• Experience working with patients recovering from workplace or musculoskeletal injuries.
• Familiarity with CAD/CAM technology, digital scanning, and modern orthotic fabrication techniques.
• Knowledge of workplace ergonomics, injury prevention, and return-to-work programs.
• Experience supporting individuals working in physically demanding agricultural or industrial environments is a plus.

Working Conditions
The Orthotist will primarily work in a clinical or occupational health environment located at [Company Headquarters or Production Facility].
