Description

GEO Next Generation High School is a part of a network of high-quality charter schools managed by the GEO Foundation. It joins GEO Prep Academy and GEO Prep Mid-City, delivering a high-quality K-12 learning experience to parents and students in the Baton Rouge community. GEO Next Generation High School is a tuition-free, public charter school that will begin with 9th grade and add a grade each year over the subsequent three years. Our teachers cultivate critical thinking skills students need to understand how the world works around them. Our dedicated faculty are committed to providing an outstanding education for students each day as they transition from elementary to middle school to high school and COLLEGE. Through our partnership with the local community college, our students will be able to take dual credit courses with the opportunity to earn college credit at no cost to the student. Our curriculum and our teaching methods are designed using Core Knowledge, Teach Like a Champion and blended learning model. We are a TAP school! 

REPORTS TO/TERM:

Principal and Administrative Team

This is a full time 10-month 


ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:

  • Analyzes student data as the basis for developing student learning goals and a school plan.
  • Develops the school achievement plan, utilizing the TAP process
  • Develops the school assessment plan, utilizing the TAP process
  • Monitors goal setting, activities, classroom follow-up and goal attainment for cluster groups and Individual Growth Plans (IGPs)
  • Oversees planning, facilitation and follow-up of cluster group meetings during Professional Growth Blocks
  • Demonstrates instructional expertise by: model teaching, team teaching, video presentations, curriculum development and implementation, student learning, data analysis, mentoring and providing professional development
  • Observes and provides peer assistance and coaching toward meeting teachers' IGP goals and addressing student achievement
  • Evaluates teachers and provides feedback based on results
  • Follows all administrative procedures and policies of the school and district
  • Must meet any additional specific job requirements as indicated by the Principal and the Basic Role and Responsibilities TAP Guide for the Master Teacher
  • Attend all grade level meetings
  • Attend all professional development meetings
  • Analyzes student data that illustrates the teachers' ability to increase student achievement through utilizing specific instructional interventions
  • Demonstrates professionalism at all times
  • Displays excellent communication skills and an understanding of how to facilitate growth in adults
  • Performs other duties, as deemed appropriate, by the principal

Requirements

EQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A master's degree in an education-related field
  • Valid Teaching Certificate/License for grades 6-12
  • At least one (or more) of the following:

       National Board Certification

       TAP Certification

       Core Knowledge Experience

       Blended Learning Experience

       At least two years of successful teaching in an urban environment

  • Minimum of five years effective teaching experience as measured by performance evaluations, promotions and portfolio of work
  • Three years curriculum development, professional development and mentoring experience
  • At least five years' experience and a proven track record in increasing student achievement
  • Excellent communication skills with adults and students
  • Familiar with the State's TAP program for staff evaluations
