Lonestar Electric Supply is seeking a detail-oriented Product Data Specialist to support the accuracy and integrity of the company's product database. This role is responsible for creating, maintaining, and improving product master data within the company's ERP and product information systems. The Product Data Specialist ensures product information, pricing, classifications, and vendor data remain accurate, consistent, and aligned across the organization.
The ideal candidate has a strong attention to detail, an analytical mindset, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with multiple departments to support data quality and operational excellence.
Responsibilities:
• Create and maintain new product records within the ERP and product information systems, ensuring all required fields are accurate and complete.
• Maintain item master data, including product descriptions, units of measure, weights, classifications, and manufacturer information.
• Perform routine audits of product data to identify and resolve duplicate records, inconsistencies, and outdated information.
• Accurately process vendor pricing and cost updates to ensure system accuracy and margin integrity.
• Assign and maintain product categorizations and mappings across company systems.
• Cross-reference internal item numbers with manufacturer part numbers to ensure consistency and accuracy.
• Support data cleansing initiatives by standardizing naming conventions and improving product data consistency across the organization.
• Collaborate with Purchasing, Sales, Operations, and IT to resolve product data discrepancies and clarify product information.
• Maintain organized documentation of product data updates, changes, and supporting information.
• Identify opportunities to improve data quality, operational efficiency, and product data management processes.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional coursework or certifications in business, data management, or related field preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in product data management, ERP administration, or high-volume data entry, preferably within a distribution environment.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including working with large datasets, filters, and basic formulas.
• Experience with ERP systems such as Epicor Eclipse, SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms preferred.
• Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to accurately manage complex alphanumeric product data.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify inconsistencies and recommend appropriate solutions.
• Ability to evaluate incomplete or conflicting information and exercise sound judgment when researching and maintaining product data.
• Adaptability and willingness to learn new products, systems, and business processes in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
Physical Requirements:
• Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
• Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
