Job description

Your Purpose:
We are seeking an exceptional Director, Data and Marketing Technologies to lead Brightline's Data Engineering, Analytics, and Marketing Technology functions. These teams are responsible for translating the Brightline strategy into innovative products and digital, data, and technology business solutions for our customers, partners and colleagues. The team leads the strategic efforts in creating an enterprise architecture and master plan that ties together our experiences, data, workflows, capabilities, applications, integrations and back-end services in a cohesive way that strengthens the Brightline brand, drives speed to market and powers innovation to lift revenue, ridership and customer satisfaction.
The Director, Data and Marketing Technologies leads an organization responsible for enterprise data and analytics architecture and the marketing technology platforms that activate our data to reach and serve customers. The role provides thought leadership and architecture services for all aspects of data and analytics across the company-including data platforms, data services, advanced analytics, reporting, data visualizations, master data management, knowledge engineering, real world data, data acquisition, and integration - while owning the strategy, integration, and optimization of the marketing technology stack - including journey orchestration, customer data platform (CDP), campaign and email execution, and consent and privacy management.
The Director leads cross-functional enterprise-wide strategies for data and marketing technology, in partnership with Commercial, Marketing, Ops, GX, Digital, IT, HR, Accounting, Finance, and other Brightline business groups. This is a deliberately connective role: it exists to ensure data flows cleanly into activation and that activation feeds cleanly back into measurement - bridging the data and marketing functions as partners rather than operating either as a silo.
Your Role:
  • Lead the enterprise data and analytics architecture function, owning thought leadership and architecture services across the full data and analytics landscape - from platforms and pipelines to advanced analytics, reporting, visualization, master data management, and knowledge engineering.
  • Own the strategy, integration, and optimization of the marketing technology stack - including journey orchestration (e.g., Adobe Journey Optimizer), CDP, campaign and email platforms, and tag, consent, and privacy management - translating campaign and lifecycle goals into reliable, measurable technical implementations.
  • Serve as the connective leader between the data function and Marketing / Growth, establishing shared definitions, SLAs, intake processes, and attribution / segmentation frameworks that both teams trust and that reduce requirement churn and cross-functional friction.
  • Lead enterprise-wide strategy for data and marketing technology across Brightline business groups, aligning priorities and roadmaps with functional partners.
  • Expand the organization's data, analytics, and marketing technology offerings, with focus on emerging analytical approaches, skills, and technologies to drive value from Brightline data assets and enable business innovation.
  • Own data privacy and consent tooling and workflows, ensuring compliant, well-governed collection and activation of customer data.
  • Initiate and oversee strategic efforts to identify, develop, and host data and information services that reach across domains, support reuse of internal and external data, and build trust in data and analytical information - improving data access and usability to accelerate business insights.
  • Lead a team of data engineers, data analysts, and marketing technology practitioners responsible for research, analysis, design, and delivery of data and solution architectures that support business strategies and priorities across all Brightline business functions.
  • Understand emerging industry and innovative technology trends - including AI-assisted tooling - to effectively prioritize and practically apply existing, new, and emerging technologies to harness insights and value from Brightline's internal and external data, and to expand team capacity and output.
  • Develop and promote modern architectural approaches that encourage data and value exchange with partners and customers, digitization of processes, business connectivity, and partner collaboration.
  • Partner with the IT organization (delivery, architecture, dev ops, etc.) to identify, scale, and reuse data, analytics, and marketing technology innovations and platforms. Establish practices, processes, and platforms, working horizontally across Digital to govern and operationalize new technologies for broad and effective use across Brightline.

Please note that this Job Description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the teammate for this job. Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice.
Experience & Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and 10+ years of related experience required; experience in travel, leisure, and hospitality preferred; advanced degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of leadership roles spanning data / analytics and / or marketing technology, in design, development, and execution within a complex organization.
  • Deep expertise in data and analytics, with experience across data services and reporting, data acquisition and integration, advanced analytics, data visualizations, master data management, knowledge engineering, big data platforms, real world data, and sales and marketing analytics.
  • Hands-on familiarity with a modern marketing technology stack - journey orchestration, CDP, campaign / email platforms, and tag / consent management - and with data privacy, consent, and governance practices.
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to stay abreast of and incorporate both innovative and existing technologies.
  • Exceptional strategic thought partner, with the ability to lead through strong co-creation and collaboration with Digital and business partners across Brightline - and, in particular, to build effective, trust-based partnerships with Marketing rather than operating as a siloed specialist.
  • Demonstrated ability to bring creative ideas and drive digital innovation, leading with the customer in mind; exceptional judgment about which innovations to pursue; able to project how potential ideas may play out in the marketplace.
  • Experience across multiple internal and external data domains and architecture environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop talent and build effective teams. Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence key partners and stakeholders, both directly and indirectly.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners
  • Strong quantitative, analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy and ability to make data-driven decisions
  • Keen ability to deal effectively with guests, management, teammates, and outside contacts while working under pressure and meeting deadlines
  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and presentation skills; including the ability to provide written and verbal direction effectively
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, specifically, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Managerial Responsibility:
  • Direct supervisory responsibility including the authority to hire, transfer, suspend, layoff, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward or discipline or effectively recommend such actions.
