What is a massage room for rent?

A massage room for rent is a private or shared space within a wellness center, spa, or commercial property that is leased to massage therapists or bodywork professionals. Renting a massage room allows independent practitioners to see their clients in a professional setting without the overhead of operating an entire facility. This arrangement often includes amenities such as a massage table, linens, and sometimes access to waiting areas or receptionist services. Rental agreements can be hourly, daily, or monthly, depending on the provider. It's a flexible option for therapists looking to grow their practice or work in multiple locations.

What should I consider when evaluating a massage room for rent to ensure it supports my practice and client experience?

When assessing a massage room for rent, consider factors such as privacy, soundproofing, and cleanliness to create a comfortable environment for clients. It's also important to evaluate the location's accessibility, parking availability, and proximity to public transportation for client convenience. Check if the rental includes essential amenities like massage tables, linens, and waiting areas, or if you'll need to provide your own. Additionally, inquire about the terms of the lease, hours of access, and any restrictions on your practice to ensure the space aligns with your business needs.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a massage therapist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Massage Therapist, you need in-depth knowledge of anatomy, massage techniques, and a valid massage therapy license or certification. Familiarity with scheduling software, client records management systems, and various massage equipment is commonly required. Outstanding interpersonal skills, professionalism, and the ability to make clients feel comfortable are essential soft skills. These competencies ensure client satisfaction, effective treatment, and the growth of a loyal clientele in a competitive wellness industry.

Job description

Locations Hiring: Richmond (reopening in September), Short Pump and Midlothian | Full- & Part-Time

About Scents of Serenity:

Awarded Best Spa by Virginia Living Magazine 12 years in a row, Scents of Serenity is proud to be one of Virginia's most respected luxury spa destinations. With four award-winning locations, a loyal guest following, and national recognition three years in a row by Inc. 5000 as one of the fastest growing private companies in the US, we are excited to continue our growth through the expansion of our Richmond location, reopening in September. We are currently hiring Massage Therapists for all locations (Richmond, Short Pump, Glen Allen and Midlothian).

As a high-end, high-volume spa, we're proud to deliver five-star experiences that combine the best of both worlds: luxury and results. What sets us apart is our ability to offer a serene, resort-style environment alongside a team of skilled massage therapists who provide deeply therapeutic, results-oriented care. Our diverse team brings a wide range of backgrounds and specialties-offering far more than relaxation. With both technical expertise and a healing touch, our therapists have earned the trust of guests who return time and time again. Whether our guests seek a peaceful escape or targeted, restorative work, we're proud to deliver both in one exceptional experience.

Scents of Serenity is also proudly owned by a Licensed Massage Therapist, so we speak your language. While no longer in the treatment room, our owner's background brings a practitioner's insight to how we schedule, support, and invest in our team.

Why Therapists Love Working Here:

"Scents of Serenity has always cultivated and nurtured an environment of freedom and safety in which I feel inspired to grow. I feel supported by management, my clientele and our staff of well-informed and experienced individuals. I am always treated with dignity and respect, as a human being and not just an employee. I love the high standard held for products, practices, and education and appreciate how beautiful everything looks, smells and feels. I love that it takes all of us to make Scents of Serenity what it is. I also love that we have an amazing trail blazing leader, who inspires me to reach for more of who I want to be. I learn so much each day I work here, and I know that when I come up against any issue, a creative solution will be found so we can continue to move forward."

"Scents of Serenity is like a dream job for me. It's incredibly beautiful and such a wonderful environment to work in. Coming from a spa where services were 50 min long and being booked on the hour, having massages that are 60 minutes with 15 min cleanup time in between each service is just AMAZING. It makes such a difference. Also, the menu is amazing. I absolutely love it. CBD, flower essences, aromatherapy, herbal compresses... and so much more! Having luxury organic product mediums to work in makes each service provided so incredibly fun! The best part of all is the energy and people here. Our staff is incredible and the room for growth is huge. I feel so blessed to work here!"

"I am a fairly new massage graduate and just recently began at Scents of Serenity, but I knew right away this was a place that would allow me to grow. SOS has provided me with a welcoming and open space to be able to expand my knowledge, and skill sets in the massage realm. It's an amazing place where everyone learns from and supports one another. My confidence level in my abilities has skyrocketed from two months of working here. I am so grateful to be a part of the SOS team and the beautiful atmosphere they provide!"

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customized therapeutic and relaxation massage sessions
  • Work with clients seeking stress relief and long-term wellness support
  • Use organic oils, flower essences, hot stones, CBD, bamboo, herbal compresses
  • Provide organic body treatments
  • Deliver elevated guest care in a calm, high-end, luxury spa environment

Bonus if you have experience with:

  • Prenatal, lymphatic, or deep tissue massage
  • Body treatments, reflexology, bamboo massage or herbal compresses

Why You'll Thrive Here:

  • You'll be heard. We're owned by a licensed massage therapist who understands the demands of your craft.
  • You'll be respected. Sessions are 60 min/90 min (not 50 min/80 min) with built-in recovery time of 15 minutes in between guests.
  • You'll be supported. We invest heavily in our team, including CEU trainings and advanced education throughout the year.
  • You'll grow. Whether you're newly licensed or a seasoned therapist, we help you expand your skills and career with purpose. Our exceptional leadership team is devoted to your growth.

What We Offer:

  • Consistently full schedules and loyal clientele
  • Commission-based pay + tips + quarterly performance bonuses
  • Paid time off (full-time)
  • Employer-contributed health insurance (medical, dental, vision for full-time employees)
  • Discounts on spa services and organic products
  • W2 employment and a tranquil, professional environment

Apply

We'd love to welcome a thoughtful, experienced therapist who's looking for more than just a job-someone who wants to grow, give, and be part of a team that truly cares. If you're ready to be valued, supported, and inspired daily, we encourage you to apply.
