Job Summary
The Department of Communication seeks two (2) Lecturers to teach undergraduate courses in Mass Communication, Broadcast Journalism and/or Professional Media Writing. The positions emphasize effective teaching, curriculum development, and mentorship of students preparing for careers in public relations, multimedia journalism, video and audio production, and other related communication fields. Additionally, the faculty may teach in the CORE. These non-tenure track faculty positions, based in the Department of Communication, are 10-month academic year positions. These are full-time positions beginning August 2027, with the possibility of promotion to Senior Lecturer.

Teaching Responsibilities

Faculty employees also contribute to the Georgia College & State University core curriculum by teaching topical freshman (GC1Y) or sophomore seminar (GC2Y) courses. All Georgia College & State University faculty share the responsibility of teaching our core curriculum and providing foundation courses for majors and non-majors alike. To carry out our public liberal arts mission, we seek faculty with the ability to engage students as they launch their intellectual journey.

Faculty are expected to stay current in their field.
Faculty - Service to Institution -
- All faculty are expected to help the department in recruiting majors.

Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
A Ph.D. or terminal degree in the discipline or closely related field at the time of appointment is expected.
Must meet SACSCOC accreditation requirements stated in C.S. 3.7.1 (www.sacscoc.org (faculty credentials))

Candidates should have significant experience in journalism, with a demonstrated ability to produce high-quality news content across various media platforms (print, digital, broadcast, or audio). This includes a solid foundation in news writing, editing, and multimedia storytelling, along with practical knowledge of journalistic ethics and practices.
