Both roles require security clearances and technical expertise but serve different strategic purposes within intelligence operations.

What is MASINT intelligence?

MASINT, or Measurement and Signature Intelligence, is a branch of intelligence gathering that involves the collection and analysis of scientific and technical data to identify unique characteristics (signatures) of objects or events. It often uses sensors and advanced technologies to detect, track, and analyze sources such as radar, acoustic, nuclear, chemical, and other physical phenomena. MASINT is used to complement other intelligence disciplines, like HUMINT or SIGINT, and is crucial for understanding and monitoring threats, including weapons development and unusual activities. This type of intelligence is vital for national security, military operations, and strategic decision making.
