We are seeking a Director, North America Strategy to help shape and advance the strategic direction of Mars Veterinary Health in North America. This role partners closely with the VP, North America Strategy and senior leadership to frame key strategic choices, evaluate growth and investment opportunities and develop recommendations that inform enterprise level decisions. The Director operates as a strategic advisor, influencing direction and driving clarity across a complex, multi-site healthcare organization. The ideal candidate combines top tier strategy capabilities with a pragmatic operator mindset and thrives in fast moving, ambiguous environments.
Strategy Development & Enterprise Planning
  • Support development of North America strategic priorities, long range planning and enterprise growth initiatives
  • Translate strategic direction into actionable roadmaps, operating implications and measurable outcomes
  • Drive development of executive-ready strategy materials, updates, and narratives for the Petcare Leadership Team (PLT), Mars Leadership Team (MLT), and other key stakeholder and governance forums

Strategic Analysis & Decision Support
  • Frame key strategic questions and structure complex problems to inform executive decision making
  • Drive strategic evaluations of growth opportunities, investments, partnerships and business models
  • Develop data driven insights and recommendations that inform enterprise level decisions

Market, Competitive & Business Insights
  • Assess market trends, competitors, consumer behavior and emerging industry developments to inform strategy
  • Synthesize internal and external data into clear actionable strategic insights
  • Monitor developments across veterinary healthcare, petcare, healthcare services and adjacent sectors

Executive Partnership & Influence
  • Partner with senior leaders across operations, Medical, Finance and technology teams to shape strategic priorities
  • Act as a strategic advisor, bringing structured thinking and independent perspective to leadership discussions
  • Partner closely with Petcare Strategy and broader Mars Petcare teams to align MVH North America strategic priorities with enterprise Petcare strategy and support coordinated activation across the organization
  • Influence cross functional stakeholders in a highly matrixed environment to drive alignment and progress

Planning Rigor & Strategic Execution
  • Drive consistency and rigor in strategic planning processes and business performance discussions
  • Support translation of strategic priorities into actionable plans in partnership with business leaders
  • Identify key risks, trade-offs and dependencies to inform decision making and prioritization

The Director, North America Strategy operates as part of the North America Strategy team, partnering closely with the VP, North America Strategy and senior leaders across the business to advance the strategic agenda. The role works cross functionally with Operations, Medical, Finance and Technology teams to shape strategic priorities and inform enterprise decision making.
This position plays a central role in shaping direction, framing strategic choices and driving alignment across a complex, multi-site healthcare organization. The Director is expected to operate with a high degree of autonomy, bringing structured thinking, independent perspective and analytical rigor to inform and influence senior stakeholders in a highly matrixed environment.
Salary Range: $ $154,440.00 - $241,312.50
Compensation is determined based on education, experience, and other relevant credentials. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, location, and market competitiveness.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.
  • 8-10+ years of experience in strategy consulting, corporate strategy, or equivalent strategic/analytical leadership role

  • Experience supporting senior executives and contributing to enterprise level strategic decisions in large complex organizations
  • Strong business and financial acumen, including experience evaluating growth opportunities, investments and tradeoffs
  • Proven ability to structure ambiguous, complex problems and develop data driven insights and recommendations

  • Exceptional executive communication and storytelling skills
  • Proven ability to influence senior, cross functional stakeholders without direct authority

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and operate effectively in a fast paced, evolving environment
