Title: Pavement Marking Supervisor I
Classification: Non-Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Pavement Marking Supervisor I is responsible for supervising crews engaged in the operation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of pavement marking equipment for road construction and maintenance projects. This role includes ensuring compliance with safety protocols, overseeing the precise application of road markings, and maintaining equipment. The ideal candidate will effectively manage crew performance, conduct safety training, and ensure that work is completed according to project specifications. Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential for coordinating with team members and contractors to achieve successful project outcomes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Lead and train crew members in essential pavement marking functions and equipment operation.
  • Ensure compliance with MUTCD, State, City, and local pavement marking standards, identifying, and resolving discrepancies.
  • Operate equipment to apply paint, thermoplastic, and other pavement markings.
  • Prepare work areas, transport materials, and manage job site logistics.
  • Implement striping plans and perform layout, including intersection markings.
  • Maintain and operate all pavement marking equipment, including milling, and grinding tools.
  • Communicate with contractors, field inspectors, and supervise field personnel.
  • Complete daily paperwork, including logging yield conversions and verifying specifications.
  • Following all safety rules and regulations to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Adhering to all company policies and procedures to maintain compliance and consistency.
  • Performing other work-related duties as assigned to support team objectives and operational needs.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • Must pass a background check, including motor vehicle records check.
  • Must successfully pass a drug test and meet federal DOT requirements.
  • Wear proper safety equipment (work boots with safety toe, hard hat, safety glasses, and safety vest).
  • Must successfully complete the ATSSA TCT intermediate training course.
  • Must successfully complete the ATSSA Pavement Marking intermediate training course (if mandated by the state).
  • Must be able to read plans, ensure traffic control plans are implemented and maintained, comply with road signs, complete paperwork, and understand federal and state motor carrier safety regulations. Knowledge of state and local roadways and experience operating delivery vehicles of varying sizes.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures for securing and transporting cargo.
