Job description

PPG is looking for a Business Development Manager to join our team in the Midwest territory. As the Business Development Manager, SEM Allied Products, you will increase growth across the US and Canada. You will focus on expanding distribution and increasing market share in existing accounts. You will also identify new business opportunities and implement strategic programs. Your plans will strengthen SEM's position within the automotive refinish, body shop, commercial segment, and retail channels. The BDM will work with Sales, Marketing, Technical, and Key Account teams to deliver commercial execution, enhance customer experience, and accelerate the performance of SEM's Allied portfolio. The territory for this role with focus on the US Midwest, in addition to some of the Northeast/New England states.
The ideal candidate for this role will reside in the United States Midwest - preferably the Cleveland, OH area. You will report to the Business Director, Allied Products.
Responsibilities
  • Identify and secure new business opportunities across USCA according to SEM's priorities.
  • Expand distribution coverage by onboarding and supporting new distributors, jobbers, and retail partners.
  • Lead commercial programs focused on categories including abrasives, masking, aerosols, body fillers, and paint cups.
  • Develop business cases, growth plans, and clear financial targets for new opportunities.
  • Partner with our regional sales teams to accomplish Allied portfolio plans.
  • Conduct regular business reviews with distributors and large body shop groups to evaluate performance and identify growth actions.
  • Work with Marketing to develop sales tools, training materials, and category promotions.
  • Translate insight into applicable recommendations for pricing, product positioning, promotions, and channel strategies.
  • Through PPG's Fixed and Variable Rate (FAVR) program, you'll have the flexibility to drive your own vehicle while receiving tax-advantaged reimbursement for fuel, insurance, and other eligible business-related vehicle expenses.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in sales, business development, or category management in automotive refinish, industrial distribution, or related markets.
  • Knowledge of SEM Allied Products.
  • Negotiation skills, and ability to close opportunities.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license, maintain automobile insurance, have access to a personal vehicle that meets PPG's FAVR program requirements, and successfully pass a motor vehicle record (MVR) review.

The base salary range for this position is $100,000 to $130,000 and the employee will participate the relevant bonus plan.
