Job Title:Research AssociateDepartment:FAES | Horticulture and Crop Science

The Researcher supports research focused on weed management, herbicide resistance, and herbicide efficacy in agronomic cropping systems. This position coordinates greenhouse research activities in the Agronomic Weeds Laboratory at Kottman Hall (Columbus, OH) and assists with field research at the Western Agricultural Research Station (South Charleston, OH).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish, maintain, and manage greenhouse and field research trials.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze research data.
  • Oversee day-to-day laboratory and greenhouse operations, including equipment and inventory management.
  • Assist with experimental design, grant development, and preparation of research publications.
  • Mentor undergraduate and graduate students participating in research activities.
  • Support extension and outreach programs through field days, workshops, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Maintain research records and ensure compliance with safety and research protocols.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required.
  • One (1) year of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree, or three (3) years of relevant experience with an Associate's degree.
  • Experience supporting laboratory, greenhouse, agricultural, or field-based research.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Weed Science, Plant Science, Biology, Agricultural Sciences, or a related field.
  • Experience with greenhouse and field research, herbicide evaluation, weed management, or agronomic crop production systems.
  • Experience with research data analysis, scientific publications, and student mentoring.
