Job Summary:
The Research Services Librarian provides services to faculty and students both individually and in group settings in multiple formats at multiple locations. This person teaches information literacy skills to students and faculty and participates in the professional work of the library by assisting with policies and procedures. This role also serves as circulation supervisor when needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Library Science or Library and Information Science
Essential Functions:
  • Assist patrons with research needs:
    • Assist patrons with reference queries in person, over the phone and chat, and by email.
    • Instruct patrons in use of library resources and online library system.
    • Conduct online and other database searches.
    • Direct patrons to appropriate service points.
    • Participate in Interlibrary Loan activity.
  • Information Literacy Instruction
    • Schedule sessions with faculty to develop Pathfinders and provide other requested services.
    • Develop information literacy tools such as LibGuides, activities, and handouts.
    • Present library instruction sessions and Orientations as needed.
    • Instruct faculty, students and staff in the use of Library information materials, resources, and services.
    • Assist faculty in assignment development
  • Participate in the professional work of the Library
    • Participate with the other librarians in maintaining a balanced collection policy and effective budget allocation process under the direction of Budget and Resource Management Librarian.
    • Assist in the discussion and formulation of library policies and procedures and in problem resolution.
    • Cooperate with other librarians to provide service and assistance according to library objectives.
  • Complete project-based work in service of the research and information needs of the Marist community.
  • Assist in coverage of the Public Services desk as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned
