Job description

West Coast Boat Center Reno is a boat Dealer for Cobalt, Malibu, Axis, Chris Craft and Yamaha Boats. We are looking for a skilled mechanic who can work on Boats sized 20' - 36'. The work varies from basic winterize, summarize. To scheduled manufacturer maintenance and electrical troubleshooting. A manufacturer certification is ideal but not required.

Candidate must be able to work under warm conditions, in tight, hard to get to spaces. 40 hours per week Monday through Friday with occasional weekend work. Salary is based off the level of experience

1. Performs major and specialized mechanical repair work on inboard engines and outboard motors.

2. Rig new boats and prep them ready for sale

3. Operate a tow vehicle with truck and drive a boat for a lake test boat to verify repairs have been completed

4. Diagnose run ability problems for various types of boats

5. Able to identify what parts are needed for a possible repair and communicate with our parts person

The technician is responsible for performing inspections, diagnostics, repairs, maintenance, rigging and installations as efficiently as possible while ensuring quality work. The job may include:

  • Providing clear documentation of service in the form of the 3 C’s (concern, cause, and correction) and time tracking
  • Keeping work area, tools and boats clean and organized
  • Performing proper diagnostic procedures
  • Utilizing tech manuals, service bulletins, and training materials
  • Following proper shop processes and procedures
  • Staying within the approved time frame and communicating any delays with the service manager
  • Proactively looking for value added service that can increase the hours per repair order and keep the boat in top condition
  • Documenting and communicating any additional work needed
  • Ensuring work is approved prior to beginning
  • Returning warranty parts properly and promptly
  • Submitting a complete parts request to the parts department with all boat information
  • Performing proper repair procedures
  • Quality checking each repair
  • Cleaning as you work including removing all tools, rags, boxes, etc..
  • Alert detail to any issues they might need to address
  • Assisting the Service Manager in explaining work to customers
  • Presenting an explanation of work done to a customer’s if there is concern
  • Returning all paperwork, keys, and boat to the proper place when finished
  • Informing management of any broken, damaged, worn or dangerous conditions, parts, or equipment
  • Striving for 100% customer satisfaction through fixing things right the first time.

Requirements:

· Basic understanding of how a gasoline engine operates

· Ability to operate fork lift

· Valid Drivers License
