About Distance Education:

Distance Education provides an entirely asynchronous, online learning experience that adapts to the unique circumstances of each student. The Opportunity:

Unity Environmental University Distance Education is seeking enthusiastic individuals to teach courses for our online graduate Marine Conservation Biology program. Courses are online and run for eight weeks in five different terms. 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • We are particularly interested in hiring adjunct faculty to teach courses in Sustainable Management of Marine Resources, Impacts of Predators on Marine Ecosystems, and Applied Research in Marine Biology.
  • Courses are taught asynchronously with a maximum of 20 students per course.   

Adjunct Compensation
At Unity Environmental University, adjunct faculty are compensated at a rate of $57 per student credit hour. Graduate courses are delivered in eight-week terms, and compensation for each course section is based on the number of student credit hours generated by enrolled students in that section.

Do you have the skills?

The ideal candidate will possess aPh.D.in the discipline or amaster's degreewith ample experience in the profession.

  • Experience with online teaching and previous use of Canvas is highly desirable.
  • Prior work or field experience in the Marine Sciences is highly desirable.
  • Ability to efficiently operate a personal computer and associated software (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Must have strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately using email and digital conferencing tools.
  • Personal commitment to the environmental focus and mission of the college.

The Location:

Unity Environmental University's Distance Education curriculum is 100% online. Our Distance Education Adjuncts will teach remotely and are required to reside within the United States for the entire duration of the academic term in which they are teaching. It is the responsibility of the adjunct to ensure that they are working in a state that aligns with the tax information reported to HR.
