What is marijuana finance?

Marijuana finance refers to the management of financial operations, investments, and compliance within the legal cannabis industry. This includes accounting, banking, tax planning, and regulatory reporting for businesses involved in cultivating, processing, distributing, or selling marijuana products. Due to ongoing federal restrictions in some countries, marijuana finance professionals must navigate complex and evolving regulations to ensure compliance and financial stability. They also play a key role in securing funding, managing cash flow, and helping cannabis companies grow sustainably.

What are some common challenges faced by finance professionals in the marijuana industry?

Finance professionals in the marijuana industry often navigate complex regulatory environments, as cannabis remains illegal at the federal level in many countries. This can make banking, securing investment, and managing cash flow more challenging than in other sectors.
