Security Officer: Marathon Refinery (Part Time)

JOB SUMMARY: Under the direct supervision of the Security Captain and/or Sergeant, officers provide protection of work sites, personnel, and assets from events such as trespassing, theft, vandalism, harassment, assault, and other disruptive incidents at the Marathon Refinery in Anacortes, WA. Performing access control is a core function of this position. This is a Part-Time position working Monday - Thursday from 6:00am - 11:00am (20 hours/week).

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 18 years of age
  • Valid driver's license
  • First Aid/CPR Certification or able to obtain
  • Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC) or able to obtain State of Washington Security Officer License or ability to obtain
  • Ability to successfully complete training to become an armed Private Security Officer if desired to promote to an armed position.
  • Ability to speak, write, and comprehend English
  • Maturity of judgement and behavior

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in private security, military service, law enforcement, corrections or a related field is desirable, but not required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Comply with all company/client safety and risk management policies and procedures.
  • Guard property against damage, theft, and illegal or unauthorized entry.
  • Perform searches of people, vehicles, vessels, buildings, and large outdoor areas.
  • Operate a motor vehicle during both the day and night in a variety of settings and varying weather conditions.
  • Investigate suspicious persons, assess intentions, and take action as appropriate.
  • Report results of investigations in written form clearly and accurately.
  • Effectively and coherently communicate over radio channels
  • Communicate clearly and professionally when interacting with people.
  • Use computers with common office related software.
  • Maintain composure and control during emergency situations.
  • Conduct visual surveillance for extended periods of time.

PAY: This position starts at $21.00. Pay increment increases up to $25.30 are possible after additional training and qualifications.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Officers will be working in and around an oil refinery.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The employee's work requires routine walking, standing, bending and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds. Must be able to pass a job specific post-offer/pre-employment physical.
