Job description

Who we are
Gatik, the leader in autonomous middle-mile logistics, is revolutionizing the B2B supply chain with its autonomous transportation-as-a-service (ATaaS) solution that safely and efficiently delivers freight. The company focuses on short-haul, B2B logistics for Fortune 500 retailers and in 2021 launched the world's first fully driverless commercial transportation service with Walmart. Gatik's Class 6-7 autonomous trucks are commercially deployed across major markets, including Texas, Phoenix, Arkansas, and Ontario, Canada, driving innovation in freight transportation.
The company's proprietary Level 4 autonomous technology, Gatik Driver, is custom-built to transport freight safely and efficiently between pick-up and drop-off locations on the middle mile. With robust capabilities in both highway and urban environments, Gatik Driver serves as an all-encompassing solution that integrates advanced software and hardware powering the fleet, facilitating effortless integration into customers' logistics operations.
About the role
We are seeking safe, reliable, and detail-oriented drivers to support autonomous vehicle (AV) program operations. This role focuses on passenger vehicle driving activities that support test & operations support, data collection, mapping, route surveying, and operational readiness efforts.
This position does not involve operating vehicles in autonomous testing mode. Drivers will primarily operate vehicles manually while following established procedures and safety guidelines.
Interested and capable candidates may have future opportunities to apply for advanced AV testing roles and participate in internal training and certification programs.
This role is onsite in Chandler, Arizona.
What you'll do
  • Operate passenger vehicles safely and professionally on public roads and closed courses
  • Support autonomous vehicle (AV) missions by manually operating assigned support vehicles in coordination with AV test teams and mission coordinators
  • Assist with mission-specific objectives such as traffic flow support, route coordination, environmental coverage, safety support, and operational observations
  • Support data collection activities by driving assigned routes accurately and consistently
  • Conduct mapping and survey driving operations across urban, suburban, and highway environments
  • Follow detailed mission plans, communication protocols, and instructions from operations personnel and mission coordinators
  • Maintain high situational awareness and safe driving practices while operating in proximity to test vehicles
  • Perform basic vehicle inspections before and after shifts
  • Accurately document trips, incidents, observations, and operational notes
  • Work closely with operations teams, coordinators, and field staff
  • Maintain compliance with all traffic laws, safety protocols, and company policies
  • Support flexible shift schedules, including evenings, weekends, or extended driving assignments when needed
Required Qualifications
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Minimum 3+ years of passenger vehicle driving experience
  • Strong understanding of road safety and defensive driving practices
  • Comfortable driving for extended periods in varying traffic and weather conditions
  • Ability to follow navigation tools, maps, and route instructions accurately
  • Strong attention to detail and situational awareness
  • Basic technical proficiency with mobile devices and in-vehicle systems
  • Excellent communication and professionalism
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in field operations, logistics, transportation, rideshare, delivery, fleet operations, or data collection programs
  • Familiarity with mapping, surveying, or route validation activities
  • Experience working in fast-paced operational environments
  • Exposure to automotive technology or advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS)

Hourly Pay: $22/hour
Shift Hours: Nighttime shifts are common with some daytime shifts.
Weekly Hours: Expect 40-45 hours per week, with availability required across all 7 days.
More about Gatik
Founded in 2017 by experts in autonomous vehicle technology, Gatik has rapidly expanded its presence to Mountain View, Dallas-Fort Worth, Phoenix, Arkansas, and Toronto. As the first and only company to achieve fully driverless middle-mile commercial deliveries, Gatik holds a unique and defensible position in the AV industry, with a clear trajectory toward sustainable growth and profitability.
We have delivered complete, proprietary AV technology - an integration of software and hardware - to enable earlier successes for our clients in constrained Level 4 autonomy. By choosing the middle mile - with defined point-to-point delivery, we have simplified some of the more complex AV challenges, enabling us to achieve full autonomy ahead of competitors. Given extensive knowledge of Gatik's well-defined, fixed route ODDs and hybrid architecture, we are able to hyper-optimize our models with exponentially less data, establish gate-keeping mechanisms to maintain explainability, and ensure continued safety of the system for unmanned operations.
