Job Description:

The Manufacturing Quality Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and improving manufacturing processes while ensuring products meet established quality standards. This role combines manufacturing engineering expertise with quality management principles to drive operational efficiency, reduce defects, improve product reliability, and support continuous improvement initiatives throughout the production lifecycle.

This position requires collaboration across cross-functional teams within Trilliant, customers, and strategic business partners. You will provide cross-functional leadership and collaboration to establish, maintain, and improve the overall assembly quality of Trilliantโ€™s products manufactured in Smyrna.You will also be actively involved in documenting and maintaining the Quality Manual and supporting processes to ensure Trilliant compliance with ISO / IEC Certification requirements. You will be responsible for supporting and documenting internal and external Corrective Action Requests โ€“ 8D (CAR), Production Deviations for our internal team, quality activities and suppliers.

Position Responsibilities: Manufacturing Engineering
  • Design, develop, and optimize manufacturing processes to improve productivity, efficiency, and quality.
  • Create and maintain work instructions, process flows, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and manufacturing documentation.
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) activities, including process validation and production readiness.
  • Establish and Analyze manufacturing data to identify process improvements and cost reduction opportunities.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for production issues.
  • Evaluate and implement tooling, fixtures, equipment, and automation solutions.
  • Collaborate with production teams to improve throughput, reduce cycle times, and eliminate waste.
  • Support capacity planning and line balancing activities.
  • Develop and maintain quality control plans, inspection procedures, and testing requirements.
  • Establish and monitor key quality metrics and performance indicators.
  • Lead investigations of customer complaints, internal defects, and supplier quality issues.
  • Conduct root cause analysis using methodologies such as 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, and Failure Analysis.
  • Implement corrective and preventive actions and verify effectiveness.
  • Support internal and external audits and ensure compliance with applicable standards.
  • Perform process capability studies, statistical analysis, and quality reporting.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing defects and improving customer satisfaction.
  • Lead Lean Manufacturing, 5S and Six Sigma projects.
  • Facilitate process improvement workshops and Kaizen events.
  • Utilize statistical tools and data analysis techniques to improve quality and efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce scrap, rework, downtime, and operational costs.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Work closely with Production, Purchasing, Engineering teams.
  • Support supplier quality development and qualification activities.
  • Participate in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Quality (DFQ) reviews.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to operators and production personnel.
Position Requirements
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Quality Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing and/or quality engineering.
  • Experience with quality standards such as ISO 9001, 27001, and IEC 62443.
  • Good knowledge of IPC standards;
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of statistical process control (SPC) and quality tools.
  • Experience with root cause analysis and corrective action processes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and data analysis tools.
  • Excellent communication skills in English โ€“ written and oral; Spanish is an asset.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where teamwork is essential;
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing and related processes with firmware and software high content electronic products;
Education/Certification
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Quality Engineering, or related field.
  • Familiarity with PFMEA, Control Plans, MSA, APQP, and PPAP methodologies.
  • Experience in electronics, automotive, and high-volume manufacturing environments
  • Experience with ERP and MES systems.
  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or similar quality certification, and asset.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification, and asset.
