Job Description The New Model Program Engineer will play a critical role in the successful launch of new vehicle and powertrain models across Ford’s North America manufacturing plants. This position will manage key launch activities, coordinate cross-functional teams, drive issue resolution, monitor program status, and ensure new model programs meet quality, timing, and budget objectives.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage New Model Program governance and ensure adherence to launch processes and standards.
  • Plan and oversee pre-production build events, ensuring quality, timing, and program objectives are achieved.
  • Manage pre-production vehicle fleets, including ordering, building, testing, evaluation, and final disposition.
  • Execute Pre-Production Drive Fleet Evaluation Plans.
  • Coordinate and manage Engineering/Product Development Change approvals and ensure changes are implemented and validated before prototype builds.
  • Maintain program issue lists and lead cross-functional teams in resolving build and launch issues.
  • Lead issue-management activities and drive problems to timely closure.
  • Co-chair launch meetings and coordinate resolution of part support and build-related issues.
  • Manage launch budget approval and execution activities.
  • Prepare and present weekly New Model Program assessment reports.
  • Communicate program status, risks, issues, and mitigation plans to senior management.
  • Support the transition and integration of launch teams into manufacturing plants.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Product Development, and other cross-functional organizations.
  • Travel to support vehicle launch and manufacturing activities as required.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • 4+ years of experience using:
    • Microsoft Word
    • Microsoft Excel
    • Microsoft PowerPoint
    • Microsoft Project
  • 2+ years of experience applying structured problem-solving disciplines and statistical/problem-solving methodologies.
  • 1+ year of experience in:
    • Powertrain/Vehicle Operations
    • Manufacturing
    • Vehicle Design
    • Program Management
    • Project Management
    • Vehicle Launch
  • Strong experience maintaining issue lists and coordinating cross-functional issue resolution.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fully onsite manufacturing environment.
  • Ability and willingness to travel.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Automotive manufacturing experience.
  • New vehicle/model launch experience.
  • Program or project management experience.
  • Experience with Engineering Change Management.
  • Experience with Issue Management / Problem Management.
  • Understanding of processes and methodologies used to transition new vehicle models from development through full-scale production.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Experience presenting program status and risks to senior leadership.
