Job description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Production Supervisor's position is responsible for supervising, leading and mentoring employees in a manufacturing environment. In this position the supervisor will supervise overall production and delegate work assignments to ensure all key performance indicators (KPIs) are identified, structured, and addressed. This position plans and assigns work, implements policies and procedures, and recommends improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions. Some direct guidance received from manager.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Organizational Leadership: Provide organizational leadership to foster positive employee relations and meeting the evolving needs of the business.
  • Follows the production schedule and ensures level production throughout the area.
  • Facilitates GEMBA walks and makes suggestions on improvements.
  • Enforces safety practices, tolerance to zero attitude, maintain safety engagement, and enforces environmental regulations including 5S.
  • Implements OC Doors Lean Management Systems
  • Participates in Tier meetings with senior leadership using appropriate decision-making tools gaining approval before implementing decisions or changes.
  • Works with team leads to assign daily work duties to floor personnel.
  • Monitors and adjusts job assignments to maximize production efficiency.
  • Confers with plant manager, supply chain, quality, and other supervisors to adjust production schedules to meet customer requirements.
  • Monitors inventory levels of finished goods and work in process.
  • Makes recommendations to improve production methods, increase equipment efficiency, improve material flow, and decrease waste.
  • Leads problem solving efforts, analyzes and resolves production issues through teamwork with quality, maintenance, and engineering.
  • Maintains time and production records in Kronos daily.
  • Maintains area free of harassment or intimidating behavior.
  • Conducts employee evaluations within the set time frame.
  • Works with team lead and trainers to determine training needs of employees.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Education/ Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years' leadership experience in a team-based Lean Manufacturing environment.
  • Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in a related field is preferred or the combination of High School degree with 3-5 years' progressive experience in a manufacturing environment and a supervisory role.

Desired Skills:
  • Must be able to read, understand and interpret blueprints.
  • Ability to lead and motivate co-workers.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and able to diagnose crisis right away.
  • Self-motivated with a results driven approach.
  • Hands-on experience implementing Lean Manufacturing process systems.
  • Able to work well under pressure.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Leadership experience of projects varying in size and scope preferred.
  • Must possess good communication skills - written and oral, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and to effectively interface with others and the ability to train others.
  • Must have a firmly demonstrated commitment to safety, with strong leadership, supervisory and people skills.
  • Computer literacy with general skills in data entry and spreadsheets (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Previous exposure to Kronos as Time Management tool is an asset.
