Job description

The Plant Manager is responsible for providing overall leadership and direction for all manufacturing operations within the facility. This role is accountable for achieving operational excellence through safety, quality, productivity, cost control, employee engagement, and continuous improvement. The Plant Manager ensures the plant operates efficiently while maintaining compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide visible leadership that promotes a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and respect.
  • Develop and communicate plant objectives aligned with corporate goals.
  • Promote employee engagement and positive labor relations.
  • Direct all manufacturing operations to ensure production schedules are achieved.
  • Manage several lines specializing in converting rolls of film into bags using advanced, high-speed technology.
  • Optimize labor utilization, equipment effectiveness, and plant capacity.
  • Monitor production performance using key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Drive operational efficiencies while reducing waste and downtime.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and all environmental requirements.
  • Lead safety meetings, audits, investigations, and corrective actions.
  • Ensure products consistently meet customer specifications and support ISO, customer, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Partner with Human Resources on recruiting, employee relations, performance management, and workforce planning.
  • Manage inventory levels and improve inventory accuracy.
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement and utilize data to drive decision-making and operational improvements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, Operations Management, or related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience.
  • Minimum 5 years leading a manufacturing facility or major business unit.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and environmental regulations; ISO 9001 experience.
  • Experience in plastics manufacturing, film converting, packaging, or related manufacturing environments strongly preferred.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Working Conditions

  • Primarily works in a manufacturing environment with regular office responsibilities.
  • Occasional travel (up to 5%) for training, customer visits, or meetings.
  • Availability to respond to plant emergencies outside normal business hours.
