Manufacturing Engineering Intern Augusta, GA United States, Full-Time

Manus works across industries and value chains to accelerate the transition to BioAlternatives better performing and more sustainable versions of complex molecules traditionally sourced from plants, animals, or fossil fuels. Our platform is proven to work across scales, bridging the Valley of Death between lab and manufacturing more efficiently and more reliably to deliver the benefits of synthetic biology today. We are seeking a highly motivated Fermentation Plant Operator. This person will be expected to play an integral part of Manus Bios manufacturing and process development team located in Augusta, GA.

The Manufacturing Engineering Intern will support manufacturing and engineering activities at the Augusta facility while gaining hands-on experience in a commercial biomanufacturing environment. Working alongside Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and Engineering teams, the intern will assist with process improvement projects, data collection and analysis, documentation updates, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role provides an opportunity to apply engineering coursework to real-world manufacturing challenges while developing technical and professional skills.

Key Responsibilities

Manufacturing Operations Support

  • Assist engineers with daily manufacturing and operations activities.
  • Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis efforts by documenting observations and gathering information.
  • Participate in equipment trials, process observations, and improvement activities.
  • Engineering Project Support & Continuous Improvement
  • Support 5S and workplace organization activities throughout the facility.
  • Assist with data collection for continuous improvement projects.
  • Help create visual management tools, and workplace organization materials.
  • Support projects focused on improving efficiency, reducing waste, and enhancing productivity.
  • Assist with execution of engineering and process improvement projects.
  • Track project progress, action items, and deliverables.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide status updates on assigned tasks.

Documentation & Training Support

  • Assist with updating standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and forms.
  • Help create visual work aids and operator reference materials.
  • Support documentation reviews to ensure information remains current and accurate.
  • Assist with organizing training materials and engineering records.

Safety & Quality

  • Follow all company safety policies and GMP requirements.
  • Participate in safety and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Support efforts to maintain a safe, organized, and compliant manufacturing environment.
