Job description

Join our dynamic team at AMETEK!  We are a leading global manufacturer of electronic instruments and electromechanical devices.  Our company is dedicated to solving complex challenges to make the world a better place. We are looking for a passionate and driven Crystal Lab Technician to join our team. As a Crystal Lab Technician, you will provide technical support in the production of germanium radiation detectors by growing detector grade, single-crystal, high-purity Ge (HPGe). The Crystal Lab Technician will also maintain and troubleshoot crystal growth equipment. If you are a Crystal Lab Technician, we would love to hear from you!

The Crystal Lab Technician will:

  • Acid etch and load germanium charge and quartz crucible into crystal growing furnace.
  • Operate furnace to produce high-purity germanium crystal suitable for detector manufacturing.
  • Clean and maintain crystal growth equipment and associated etch sink/clean room.
  • Prepare and document zone refined ingots for use in the crystal growth process.
  • Maintain record and logbooks on crystals and crystal growth machines.
  • Assist in general mechanical and electrical maintenance of equipment, as required.
  • Assist in quality control, yield assurance and inventory control.
