About the Role
Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence is seeking an Applications Engineer II to join our NCSIMUL team. In this highly technical, customer-facing role, you will support manufacturers implementing NCSIMUL software to simulate, verify, optimize, and validate CNC machining processes.
This position combines customer support, technical training, and application engineering, working closely with customers to implement software solutions, troubleshoot manufacturing challenges, develop virtual CNC machines, and optimize machining performance.
The ideal candidate has experience with CNC machining, CAM programming, G-code, manufacturing processes, and enjoys solving complex technical problems while working directly with customers.

Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline
  • 5+ years of related engineering or manufacturing experience
  • Experience with CNC machining and manufacturing processes
  • Familiarity with CAM programming and G-code verification
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office

Preferred
  • Previous Applications Engineering experience
  • Experience supporting manufacturing software
  • Experience with CNC simulation software
  • Familiarity with Salesforce and Jira
  • Experience with Siemens, Fanuc, Heidenhain, or Okuma controls
  • Proficiency in C# or another object-oriented programming language

Work Environment

  • This is a remote, home-based position with approximately 30% travel to customer sites throughout North America.
  • The majority of work is performed in a professional home office environment using computers, multiple monitors, and standard office equipment.
  • Frequent collaboration with customers, resellers, and cross-functional teams through phone, email, video conferencing, and other digital collaboration tools.
  • Regular onsite work at customer manufacturing facilities, machine shops, and production environments to support software implementation, troubleshooting, training, and application engineering projects.
  • Exposure to industrial manufacturing environments, including CNC machines, automation equipment, moderate noise levels, moving machinery, and varying shop floor conditions.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required when visiting customer facilities and will be provided as needed.
  • Employees are expected to maintain a safe, organized, and reliable home office with dependable internet connectivity to effectively support customers and internal teams.
  • Flexibility to accommodate customer schedules, project deadlines, and occasional travel is essential to successfully perform the responsibilities of this role.
