This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

We are seeking a dynamic Manufacturing Engineer to join our Operations team at Blue Origin. This role will lead the design and implementation of efficient manufacturing systems, ensure stringent quality control throughout production, andoptimizesupply chainlogisticsspecific to Production/Operations. The ideal candidate will be results-driven, skilled in resource management, and committed to high-quality standards. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline operations, reduce costs, and enhance production timelines. Leveraging advanced technologies and methodologies, you will contribute to improving manufacturing techniques, ensuring Blue Origin's continued innovation and excellence in aerospace engineering.

    Focus Areas & Domain Expertise:

    • Core Manufacturing Engineering Scope: Own the full manufacturing engineering lifecycle: review designs for manufacturability, define work instructions and work orders, manage BOMs, disposition non-conformances, and drive continuous improvement to hit rate, quality, and cost targets.
    • Weld and Structural Fabrication ME: Develop and optimize processes and work instructions to fabricate tanks and welded structural assemblies for space vehicles, including weld sequences, fixturing, and inspection to enable high-rate, high-quality production.
    • Electronics Fabrication ME: Define and refine processes for assembly and test of avionics boxes, harnesses, and connectors, standing up and improving electronics work centers to support both first-article development and production-rate builds.
    • New Glenn Sub-Assemblies ME: Create and improve manufacturing processes and work instructions for New Glenn sub-assembly hardware, accelerating production rates and ensuring reliable hardware flow to support vehicle production and flight operations.

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Support the industrialization of new products in areas such as solar arrays, integration and test, avionics, and structures.
    • Contribute to design for manufacturability (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), design for test (DFT), key to building reliable vehicles for space exploration.
    • Translate engineering requirements into robust, repeatable manufacturing processes that support Blue Origin's mission.
    • Collaborate closely with design engineering, quality assurance, supply chain, and production teams to accelerate building a road to space.
    • Develop andmaintainmanufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process flow diagrams, tool designs, and inspection plans.
    • Evaluate and implement new manufacturing technologies and methods (e.g., composites, precision machining, additive manufacturing, advanced assembly).
    • Support root cause analysis of process or product non-conformances; develop and implement corrective actions that enhance reliability and performance.
    • Ensure all work aligns with applicable quality and safety standards (AS9100, ISO 9001), supporting a safe and sustainable future in space.
    • Participate in process FMEAs, risk assessments, and validation of new production lines and equipment.
    • Identifyand complete opportunities for efficiency gains and cost reduction,optimizingour ability to achieve our mission at scale.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering (other relevant fields may apply) from an accredited university
    • Experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or process engineering role: (0-3 years Level 1 Manufacturing Engineer, 3+ years Level 2 Manufacturing Engineer, 5+ years Level 3 Manufacturing Engineer, 8+ years Sr Manufacturing Engineer)
    • 1+ years of experience creating English work instructions
    • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
    • Must have flexibility to move shifts as needed. Open to work extended hours ifrequired.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience in high-rate assembly lines for aerospace and/or automotive is preferred
    • Understanding of engineering fundamentals for mechanical design and manufacturing including working knowledge of GD&T.
    • Experience working with Bill-of-materials and BOM reconciliation
    • Prior manufacturing engineering experience in aerospace or automotive
    • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing practices & principles
    • Experience with A9100 quality standards

        Base Pay Range for:

        WA applicants is $75,289.00 - $105,404.25

        • Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
