Position Type: Internship (Fall 2026 Term)

About Peak Energy

Peak Energy is the first American venture to advance globally proven Sodium-Ion battery systems as the storage standard for the new era of renewable energy on a resilient grid.

Sodium-Ion is cheap, readily available and safe, making it the leading contender in a rapidly evolving market.

Our leadership team is powered by decades of expertise in scaling gigawatt-level innovation at world-class companies such as Tesla, Northvolt, Apple, Powin, Enovix, Zipline, Solid Power, and Fluence. We are backed by strategic investment and product partners such as TDK Ventures and Eclipse Ventures.

We are a team of engineers, operators, entrepreneurs, and partners driven by a shared ambition to set the new performance standard for renewable energy and grid resilience.

About the Role – Systems Integration and Test Engineering Intern

This intern will support integration testing and functional verification of Peak Energy's energy storage systems, working across BMS, inverters, and other systems from batteries to power electronics.

As Peak Energy scales its ESS testing infrastructure, this role helps build out the benchtop and HIL test capabilities needed to validate systems ahead of production.

You'll work closely with firmware, design, and simulation teams, gaining exposure to the full test lifecycle – from procedure development to execution to reporting.

This role suits a hands-on, curious engineer who's eager to learn by doing and comfortable navigating ambiguity in a fast-moving startup environment.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities)

  • Support functional testing of BMS, inverters, and other systems across Peak Energy's energy storage product
  • Help design, set up, and run benchtop and HIL test setups for validation of the BMS
  • Develop and execute test scripts to support test automation efforts
  • Assist in developing test plans and procedures across electrical and mechanical systems
  • Interface with design, simulation, and manufacturing engineering partners to inform design decisions
  • Help analyze test data and document findings for engineering teams
  • Support troubleshooting and diagnosis of issues identified during testing
  • Participate in a culture of rapid prototyping and testing

What You'll Bring (Qualifications)

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field
  • Experience interfacing with microcontrollers and writing scripts for functional testing
  • Basic familiarity with electromechanical test setups
  • Proficiency in Python or similar
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable working hands-on with hardware and lab equipment
  • Passion for renewable energy, sustainability, and driving positive environmental impact through technology innovation
  • Eligible to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to high voltage battery and power electronics systems
  • Familiarity with battery management systems (BMS) architecture
  • Coursework or project experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test systems

Peak Energy is committed to building a diverse and inclusive workforce. We strongly encourage women, people of color, and individuals from underrepresented groups to apply. We value skills, potential, and perspective over specific credentials. If you're excited about this role but your experience doesn't look perfect on paper, we still want to hear from you.
