Position Description

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Manufacturing Engineering Intern to join our R&D team. As a Manufacturing Engineering Intern, you will support day-to-day production operations while gaining hands-on experience in manufacturing, inventory management, quality, and process improvement. Responsibilities include receiving and organizing incoming materials, performing inventory transactions, verifying inventory accuracy, completing kitting requests, and conducting incoming inspections. You will also assist in documenting standard operating procedures for inventory, incoming inspection, packaging, and shipping processes, ensuring clear, standardized workflows and work instructions for production.

In addition, you will support a variety of manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives, including obtaining quotes and ordering production equipment and materials, organizing the production area using 5S principles, assisting with nonconforming material (NCMR) activities, creating build documentation, capturing and organizing production records, conducting Gemba walks to identify improvement opportunities, and generating process documentation. This role provides broad exposure to manufacturing engineering while offering opportunities to contribute to process efficiency, quality, and production readiness.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in creating and updating manufacturing, quality, and operations documentation, including SOPs and work instructions.
  • Support the implementation and improvement of manufacturing processes.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy and update Manufacturing Bills of Materials (BOMs)
  • Support 5S workplace practices and organizing the production areas
  • Assist with receiving, inspection, inventory control, and kitting activities.
  • Follow safety procedures and contribute to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) initiatives
  • Assist hardware procurement, evaluating vendor specs, and ensuring incoming parts meet quality standards

Required Skills and Experience

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or related field
  • Familiarity with CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA, or Fusion 360
  • Basic understanding of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes.
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities
  • Ability to work independently and manage assigned tasks.
  • Prior internship, project, or hands-on lab experience is a plus
