Job Description
Fabrication - Metal fabricator Light Duty

JOB SUMMARY:

Fabrication, Work-in-Process Testing (i.e., Bubble Leak, Break Test, etc.) and assembly of rupture
disks, assemblies’ products and explosion vents which range from full manual control to partial
and full automation. Other duties include stockroom duties, punch press, Teflon forming,
temperature testing, tagging, marking, oxygen cleaning and shipping.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Knowledge of Power Press Operations; hydraulic. Air-driven and mechanical with controls that
range from full manual to semi-automated and automated. Operate, control, and supervise the
production equipment. Blanks, draws, forms and spot welds ferrous and non-ferrous material
into semi-finished and finished rupture disks and related components.
Follows operating for all equipment. Conducts burst tests, determines processes and
adjustments needed to obtain specific burst pressure as required.
Determines material changes needed, sets heavy dies, lays out and fabricates and assembles
rupture disks, assemblies’ products, explosion vents and component parts to specification.
Manufactures products from work orders, blueprints, engineering instructions and other related
documents.
Non-fabrication functions include but are not limited to: stockroom activities such as material
storage, identification, cut to size and allocation to work orders. Punch press, forming various
types of Teflon liners and covers, torque temperature test flanges and conducting testing in ovens
and cold box, tagging, marking, oxygen cleaning, heat treat and shipping activities.
Operate specialty software-controlled equipment, measurement, and monitoring systems.
Follow operating instructions for all equipment.
Understand “Critical to Quality” Product Characteristics and self-monitor work output to ensure
build of “good parts” by process from setup to completion to meet Customer expectations.
Maintain compliance to the Company’s Quality Management System and Industry Standards.
Maintain inspection of In-Process Product Build. Follow product specific quality steps and
endorse Lot Cards as required. Contribute suggestions for continuous improvement of products
and processes.
Problem Solving Skills with respect to equipment and their supporting systems including an ability
to recognize and appropriately respond to error codes from equipment and instrumentation.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

Helps and trains other workmen as directed by Supervisor. Observes safety rules. Suggests
methods to improve efficiency and safety on the shop floor. Keeps work area clean and orderly.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Two-Year, Associate in Applied Sciences Degree in either Industrial Technology,
Electronics Technology, Mechanical Technology, Automotive Technology, Manufacturing, or
equivalent Trade School Certificate in manufacturing related studies.

Experience: Three (3) years manufacturing experience with a proficient knowledge of ferrous and
nonferrous metals, sheet metal skills, hand and power tools, lifting and handling equipment,
machines and equipment. Must have fork truck certificate or pass training classes to obtain a
certificate.

Knowledge: Ability to read and interpret manufacturing drawings, manufacturing specifications,
and other technical information. Possess good computer skills. PLC and CNC experience
preferred. Read, interpret, and interact with instructions and record keeping handled by
Company electronic data systems. Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
Understanding of Geometric Dimensions and Tolerances. Must have knowledge of
manufacturing machines and equipment as well as layout, measuring, and gauging tools.

Mental/Physical/Visual Demands: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the work orders,
manufacturing drawings, engineering, and technical documents. Demonstrate accuracy in the
ability to self-control work for real-time accuracy. Attention to detail which includes the aesthetic
interpretation of quality of product. Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes and
adverse temperature conditions, both hot and cold. Personal protective equipment is required
but not limited to safety glasses, fully enclosed leather shoes and ear protection. Ability to
calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, angles, circumference and volume.
Frequently need to talk and hear. Stands, walks, sits, bends, stoops, climbs. Must be able to lift
and/or move 50 pounds, unassisted.

Working Conditions: General Shop conditions, moderate to occasionally loud noise (examples,
noise from running machinery, product testing, fork trucks, impact wrenches, etc.).

Equipment/Tools Used: Operates punch presses, air and hydraulic presses, spot welders,
induction heating machines, vacuum devices, large metal shears, die handling equipment,
mechanical and laser marking machines, torque wrenches, tagging equipment, shipping and
packaging equipment, fork trucks.
Uses sheet metal layout tools such as rulers, scales, scribes, squares and dividers. Precision
measuring equipment such as pressure gauges, dial indicators, calipers and micrometers. Must
possess the ability to learn the computer system. Occasionally uses office equipment such as
telephones, facsimile machine, and photocopier.
