Senior Manual QA Engineer

Seekr

Austin, TX

Full-time

Job description

About the Opportunity
Seekr builds trust into every stage of the AI lifecycle - providing a complete platform to build, train, validate, securely deploy, and monitor transparent generative AI applications and agents. We're hiring a Senior Manual QA Engineer to partner with our Manual QA Lead and raise the quality bar across Seekr's entire product suite.
You will be a force multiplier in mentoring junior engineers, championing AI-augmented QA workflows including Claude AI and MCP integrations, and driving quality outcomes with minimal direction. You'll work directly with modern agentic tooling from day one and be expected to lead its adoption within the QA practice.
Key Responsibilities
  • Test strategy & execution: Design and execute functional test cases, suites, and plans for UI and API surfaces in TestRail (incl. MCP + Claude AI integration); lead test plan reviews and peer approvals for junior engineers
  • AI tooling & MCP integration: Use Claude AI and MCP server integrations daily for test case generation, defect analysis, and knowledge base contributions; evaluate and validate AI-generated and agentic workflow outputs
  • Regression & release ownership: Co-own regression strategy and end-to-end release validation cycles with the Manual QA Lead; drive release readiness tracking and milestone reporting
  • API & technical testing: Perform advanced manual API testing; build and maintain Postman collections; apply boundary analysis, equivalence partitioning, exploratory testing, and risk-based coverage
  • Defect management & comms: Triage and log defects in JIRA with executive-ready clarity; proactively flag risks with context and recommended actions via Slack and email
  • Requirements analysis: Analyze requirements for ambiguity and testability; contribute to SDLC and systems integration process improvements across the engineering org
Skills and Qualifications
  • 5+ years as a Software QA / Test Engineer with a strong, demonstrable focus on manual testing
  • Expert-level proficiency designing and executing test cases, suites, and plans for UI and API layers
  • Deep familiarity with TestRail (or equivalent TCM) and Postman; prior TestRail MCP server integration exposure is a strong plus
  • Strong QA foundations: equivalence partitioning, boundary value analysis, exploratory testing, risk-based testing, root cause analysis
  • Proven experience mentoring or coaching junior QA engineers - formally or informally
  • Demonstrated ability to set standards, model best practices, and elevate team output through direct example
  • Hands-on experience with Claude AI (claude.ai or API) as a productivity tool in a QA or software development context
  • Working knowledge of MCP (Model Context Protocol) integrations - connecting QA tooling (TestRail, JIRA) with AI assistants
  • Comfort operating in AI-augmented workflows where outputs are non-deterministic, probabilistic, or agent-driven
  • Strong SDLC knowledge - Agile and Waterfall environments
  • Must reside near Austin, TX or Reston, VA and be available 3 days/week in office
Bonus Points
  • Experience testing AI/ML systems, LLM-powered products, or generative AI platforms - especially non-deterministic or agentic outputs
  • Familiarity with Claude Code, agentic AI orchestration frameworks, or next-gen developer tooling
  • Experience testing SDK-based tools or consuming APIs in code
  • Elementary Python scripting - reading/writing basic test scripts or automation helpers
  • Prior formal or informal QA lead or senior contributor experience with ownership of team standards or onboarding
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
