The Managing Director functions as the primary strategic business leader of the hotel.
As leader of the hotel, this position is responsible for all aspects of the operation, including guest and associate satisfaction, human resources, financial performance, sales, and revenue generation, and delivering a return on investment to ownership. The Managing Director leads a team in the development and implementation of hotel-wide strategies and ensures implementation of brand service programs and initiatives with the objective of meeting and/or exceeding guest expectations. In addition, the Managing Director builds and maintains relationships with key customers, civic and community leaders and influencers through personal engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial:
  • To deliver on the financial goals of the hotel, ensuring consistent alignment with the Omni Boston at the Seaport luxury positioning and brand values
  • Develops deployment strategies to market hotel to continue to grow market share
  • Communicates a clear and consistent message regarding hotel goals to produce desired results
  • Reviews the STR report, competitive shopping reports and other resources to maintain a strong understanding of the hotel's market position and performance
  • Ensures sales and revenue engines are leveraged to drive the total revenue strategy, across all revenue streams, and RevPAR improvement year over year
  • Reviews sales goals and strategies to ensure alignment with positioning and pricing
  • Provides strategic direction and direct support to ensure the success of the group sales team
  • Ensures accurate revenue, expense and labor forecasts and execution
  • Participates in loyalty program member relations to facilitate acquisition and retention

People:
  • Creates a cohesive leadership team and positive business environment that consistently delivers results
  • Sets goals and expectations for direct reports
  • Inspires and motivates team to achieve operational excellence
  • Identifies leadership and fosters career development
  • Utilizes an "open door" policy
  • Creates appropriate development plans based on individual strengths, development needs, career aspirations and abilities
  • Conducts annual performance appraisals with direct reports according to Standard Operating Procedures
  • Fosters associate engagement to providing excellent service
  • Holds staff accountable for successful performance in a positive manner

Hotel:
  • Proven leader within luxury hotel brands, with a passion for service excellence and eye to detail
  • Participates in daily Operations meetings to ensure strong and sustained interdepartmental communications, problem resolution and guest satisfaction
  • Participates directly in risk management issues and prevention, including legal and workers compensation
  • Ensures capital expenditure funds are budgeted and deployed effectively and within program guidelines
  • Works collaboratively with state and regional tourism entities to build and nurture strong relationships to aid the business objectives of the hotel

Qualifications
  • 5 years minimum experience as a General Manager in a four-diamond hotel required
  • Previous luxury hotel experience preferred
  • Previous experience in a large-scale convention hotel environment
  • Strongly preferred to have union experience
  • Preferred to have experience with asset management oversight
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Able to motivate team to provide best-in-class customer service
  • 10+ years of P&L responsibilities
