Job description

The Kentucky League of Cities (KLC) is seeking a collaborative and solutions-focused Software Developer for Insurance Technologies to develop and support applications for Kentucky League of Cities Insurance Services. If you enjoy solving technical problems, modernizing applications, and building reliable software, we would love to hear from you.

What You'll Do:

·         Develop, maintain, and enhance web applications using C#, ASP.NET MVC, .NET Framework, and modern .NET.

·         Serve as a primary developer for the proprietary Claims and Underwriting system and related insurance technology solutions.

·         Build, test, debug, and deploy application features, enhancements, bug fixes, and integrations.

·         Develop and consume REST APIs, JSON-based services, third-party integrations, and system-to-system data exchanges.

·         Design and maintain SQL Server databases, queries, stored procedures, data models, and data access using Entity Framework or similar technologies.

·         Support and troubleshoot production applications, including performance, application, data, and user-reported issues.

·         Work with project managers, developers, vendors, stakeholders, and users to define requirements and deliver reliable software solutions.

·         Document application functionality and technical decisions and follow secure development, accessibility, testing, and source-control best practices.

·         Modernize existing applications and improve workflows, integrations, reporting, system stability, and maintainability.

What We Are Looking For:

·         Education and experience in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, web application development, database development, or a related field; equivalent combinations will be considered.

·         Professional experience developing web applications using C#, ASP.NET MVC, .NET Framework, and ASP.NET Core or modern .NET.

·         Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL Server, Entity Framework or similar ORM technologies, REST APIs, JSON, third-party integrations, and Git.

·         Ability to design, build, test, troubleshoot, deploy, and support secure, accessible, reliable, and maintainable production applications.

·         Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and communicate with technical and non-technical audiences.

·         Experience with line-of-business applications in insurance, claims, underwriting, government, municipal, healthcare, or finance preferred; legacy .NET modernization and Azure experience are also preferred.

You Will Thrive Here If You:

·         Enjoy solving technical problems and improving applications that support business operations.

·         Can translate business needs into reliable software solutions and explain technical information clearly.

·         Value collaboration with developers, project managers, vendors, stakeholders, and users.

·         Want to learn insurance operations and municipal risk management while improving system stability and maintainability.

What We Offer:

  • Hybrid work schedule.
  • Competitive salary.
  • Thirteen paid holidays.
  • Employer-funded HSA.
  • Paid health and dental insurance.
  • Participation in the County Employees Retirement System (CERS).
