Transportation Group Leader
Houston, TX
Salary: $160,000 - $180,000
Position Summary
We are seeking a Transportation Group Leader to oversee and grow a transportation engineering team in Houston, TX. This role combines people leadership, project delivery, client development, and strategic growth responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing transportation projects, leading technical teams, and developing client relationships within the Texas transportation market.
Responsibilities
* Lead roadway, bridge, and drainage engineering teams in Texas.
* Manage the delivery of transportation design projects.
* Assist in the leadership and growth of transportation operations throughout Texas.
* Oversee staff performance reviews, goal setting, salary planning, and team development.
* Support business planning and implementation of transportation market initiatives.
* Build and maintain relationships with TxDOT, transportation agencies, and municipal clients.
* Participate in business development, marketing, and proposal efforts.
* Recruit, mentor, and retain engineering staff.
* Ensure project quality, schedule, and budget performance.
* Lead multidisciplinary project teams, including subconsultants.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
* Professional Engineer (PE) license, or ability to obtain within one year.
* 12+ years of transportation engineering experience.
* Previous staff management experience.
* Experience managing transportation PS&E and schematic design projects.
* Strong knowledge of TxDOT standards, procedures, and design criteria.
* Experience working on TxDOT transportation projects.
* Proficiency with MicroStation.
* Experience conducting project reviews, quality control, and project reporting.
* Demonstrated success leading transportation design teams and coordinating subconsultants.
* Strong business development, communication, and technical writing skills.
* Established relationships within the Texas transportation market preferred.
* Ability to manage multiple projects and teams simultaneously.
