Job description

La Tazza D'Oro is looking for a Service Captain who manages the dining experience, overseeing station staff to ensure high-quality service, taking orders, and handling guest satisfaction. They train staff, manage, and supervise the floor, often managing food, beverage, and supply inventory while enforcing health and safety standards.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Service Leadership: Supervise waiters, bus staff, and bartenders within a specific station or area to maintain service standards.
  • Guest Service: Greet guests, take orders, make recommendations, and resolve complaints professionally.
  • Operational Control: Oversee the smooth flow of service, conduct pre-shift briefings, and check the setup of the dining area.
  • Training & Mentoring: Train, mentor, and coach new staff members on menu items, service standards, and company policies.
  • Administrative Tasks: Process payments, handle POS system updates, and complete monthly inventory checks of equipment and supplies.
  • Closing Duties: Ensure all closing tasks are completed, including cleaning, restocking, and securing the station.
Qualifications:
  • Experience: Previous experience as a waiter or similar role in the hospitality industry.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal communication skills, often in English, with the ability to interact with guests and lead teams.
  • Product Knowledge: Strong knowledge of food, beverage, and wine pairings.
  • Skills: Strong multitasking abilities, attention to detail, and a professional, calm demeanor under pressure.
Education / Experience:
  • Minimum of 1 year experience as a Service/Floor captain, having worked all stations. Fine dining restaurant experience a plus
  • High School Diploma or GED is preferred, but not required
Physical/Special Requirements:
  • Ability to bend, stoop, stand and perform extensive walking for 8-10 hours a day
  • Mobility and manual dexterity appropriate to staff the Service Captain position
Work Environment:
  • Ability to perform essential job functions under pressure, maintain professionalism when working under stress
