Position Summary

The Surgical Technician assists surgeon during operative and invasive procedures. Assures operating suite is adequately prepared for procedure. Monitors PAR level of all surgical instruments and supplies. Cleans and sterilizes all surgical instruments. Participates in departmental staff meetings and performance improvement activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare operating rooms in a timely manner with all necessary instruments, sutures, supplies, and equipment.
  • Maintain a sterile instrument table and follow department standard setup for efficiency.
  • Assist surgeons intraoperatively by anticipating their needs and ensuring smooth procedural flow.
  • Accurately complete operating room counts (instruments, sponges, needles) and report any discrepancies.
  • Clean and sterilize surgical instruments following established protocols.
  • Follow proper aseptic techniques and infection control measures to ensure patient safety.
  • Monitor and maintain appropriate inventory levels of surgical instruments and supplies.
  • Assist in patient positioning, prepping, and draping for surgical procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable government laws, regulations, AAOA, and company policies.
  • Document procedures and patient interactions in accordance with standards and guidelines.
  • Maintain a safe environment for patients, colleagues, and self by adhering to safety protocols.
  • Other duties as assigned.
